I believe I read in one of Dos' articles that AJ would not be back until March.
Can't add much to what hs been said. But please can we play Tom Davis in the centre of midfield where he is at his most influential? And can we find someone to take our chances, because in a game like yesterday, we needed it. We could have still got what would have been an undeseved point yesterday had we scored during our late pressure.
The third goal was a killer as Dundo's superb header had got us back in the game. In the end tough but for Scrivs the score line could have been embarassing. Three trips to Goring's Mead, three defeats.
Ref had no influence on the result today but Dunn should have been booked for his challenge on Kes and they got away with a number of other similar challenges during the game too. He ain't the best of refs as we know but yesterday was probably one of his better days to be fair.

Thought the ref was good. Let the game flow by not blowing for every little nudge and it was the same for both sides. Probably one blatant foul by Storey he should have carded. The Dunn tackle was nothing much, an over reaction by our bench and players to try and get him booked.
If only we could have managed to get that type of performance out of Dunn, he'd still be with us!

we need to learn to start games. Our last three games have all started poorly and it has taken about 20 minutes for us to get going. It could have cost us against Carshalton, it should have cost us against Tooting (but for some dire finishing, and it definately cost us yesterday. The players must start the game as they mean to go on, not have a run around for half an hour before realising that the other side has started!
Of great concern is that our defence has collapsed. It held out against Carshalton, just, failed against Tooting and disapeared against Horsham. Everyone spent far to much time with their arms aloft calling for off-side when in fact they had just plain lost their man. The fisrt goal was conceaded mainly because everyone stood looking at the linesman and not closing Dunn down. This irritates the hell out of me and if we are to win this league we must play to the whistle, not try to blow it for the ref.
We also lacked pace and width, two things that break tough opponants down. We had this at the start of the season, until Fola got injured. Now it's artillery practice with Dundo as the target. Pathetic! We must continue to play the football that we know we can play as eventually we will get the rewards. Maybe a winger with a bit of zip is needed?
All in all, we blew it yesterday against a side who should never have been taken for fools and now need Lowestoft to screw up in order to keep ahead of them on level games. The guys have got to show championship character and lift themselves for the next game or we are going to throw this leading position away.
Time to grab this league by the scruff of the neck. C'mon lads, dig deep and show us you want to win this league!!!

we need to learn to start games. Not forgetting first half against Croydon and first half against Wealdstone.

An excellent day yesterday , just one tactical error, leaving the pub at 14:40 to go to the game.

I am really pleased I am not the Manager. Before the game I commented to someone that our bench was really strong and would walk into any Ryman PL side. Dos has said that he now has a squad which can grind out results when the pitches are at their worst. However when sides attack us down both flanks at pace and leave us square at the back with both full backs out wide at the same time we are in trouble. Both Tooting and Horsham took the game to us and we looked second best for most of the 90 minutes. We need a good response at Canvey to stop the rot. As I said I am glad I am not the Manager because I cannot see how we can improve without getting in more players. Maybe we have too many of the same type? Pace is a real problem at the back and mid-field. Also we keep missing chances up front. It needs a better tactician than I am to see how we can improve with our squad which on paper is the strongest in the RPL.

Sorry Garethl, a late challenge is a late challenge and usually results in a yellow card. But then, what would I know?

Poor first 20 and the damage was done. But after that, we still didn't really show anything until the arse end of the first half. Second half we started a lot brighter and Dundo put us back in the contest with a cracking header, but a couple of minutes later we went & gave away a soft third.
I got the impression we'd taken one look at the pitch and just decided it wouldn't play, so we'd go direct. Which is fine if you do it properly. We didn't. All the while they passed and ran the ball reasonably well.
We seriously need to step up in midfield and the back four needs to find it's feet again especially. As from looking pretty impenetrable at the start of the season, we're looking a bit shaky.

5. There is still all to play for in this league. We need to get the momentum going.
What does this mean ? Everyone seems to say it nowadays.

Getting on a decent run can make you hard to stop.. Horsham Saturday being one team with good momentum at the minute.

Sorry Garethl, a late challenge is a late challenge and usually results in a yellow card. But then, what would I know? Sorry I forgot you were a referee and that referees are right 100% of the time, and that there is nothing subjective about whether a foul is a yellow card or not. Davis got away with a worse one which IMO was worthy of a yellow.

A couple of things, we don't need anyone to slip up to allow us to win the league, it is a mathematic certainty that it remains in our hands. There is nothing wrong with our defence when used for defending, it is hopeless when used in midfield and my question would be to Dos why were we playing such a highline when we lack pace at the back Its not the first time, we nearly got caught by Croydon, did get caught by Kingstonian by simple long balls over the top and away from home to boot. Horsham are no mugs and showed that you can play both the long and short ball on a ploughed field if the opposition lets you. We are still top of the table, are excellent going forward, have the most experienced defence in the league, but probably the worst side when not in possession of the ball. No one closes down which means even on a bad pitch players have acres of space and time to control it and pick there passes, and as we have seen a few times also take a nice long range shot akin to a freekick with no pressure on the ball at all. Its funny how teams that have looked good against us (Wealdstone, Margate, Toots, Horsham) all have soft under bellies, yet can play a bit if given time and space, and guess what we give I would like to see our forwards and midfield work harder when they lose possession and not turn to see if someone else is going.
