Am I missing something? Why is this even being discussed? Has someone said something really untoward - in which case had it deleted as offensive? I just don't even get why you would want to censor the forum. Common sense tends to prevail and the few people who try to stir generally get batted down by fellow posters in a fun way.
And I've not had it confirmed officially, but I am almost certain we will not be trying to prise Torres from Liverpool. Sorry to burst someone's hope bubble... I stopped mid-sentence as Motty's Sutton v Coventry commentary just came on BBC.

The club handles transfer news exactly the right way. There will be no official statements until everything is signed and sealed.
As for speculation, this is an un-official forum and everyone is entitled to post their thoughts. Just keep in mind that some information may not be best made public knowledge.

.....so how did the speculation start, PD stated that he was intending to strengthen the squad in an effort to score GOALS......so with Jolly going out on loan... the speculation began all in good fun and to keep the forum active, with I am sure no intention of hindering negociations , with PD saying it could all be done and dusted after Tuesdays game,.. hence the observations of strangers in Bar!!! Reminds me a bit of the Daily Mirror in the 50's who had a competition in the summer, by announcing that a Mr. ? would be walking the prom at a certain seaside resort, and inviting holiday makers to stop and ask him if was Mr? ...if they were right thay won a £1.....

OS, did someone ask you from the club to remove a post?

This thread resulted from a conversation between Administrators on what should and should not be edited or removed from this forum. The latest player speculation is not the reason for the thread it merely highlighted the issue which we have seen several times before and as CoSec told us nearly cost a previous transfer going through.
So this is a general question on the subject of whether Administrators should remove or edit speculation posts which 'may' have a negative impact on a transfer or our club.
As a supporter I cannot believe that the majority of voters would rather all posts were left even if requested by the club to remove (no that did not happen this time)? Although most people will not post what they know to be sensitive, they maybe one who does not care or posts it without realising its possible impact.
Example: Players agrees or is thinking about joining us, that information is put on here, every single club is then alerted to his availability and he never makes it to the signing.
Although I might not be missed I would consider it difficult to remain as a Administrator if they could not be removed even if the club asked.

A yes or no would have done os See my previous post on the matter - a far better option is to ask the POSTER to remove the post rather than admin doing it. Has longer term benefits

Speculation over, it was always Leroy! He scored a pen for Staines yesterday, I believe.

Although I might not be missed I would consider it difficult to remain as a Administrator if they could not be removed even if the club asked. This has never happened. It has gone to the vote and that wasn't a majority, if it ever happens then make your decision then. So far the club has never made this request, they may not be happy to see targets discussed but I doubt they would ever make a request about it. The only time this has ever been an issue is when someone has taken it into their own hands to decide it needed doing, not the clubs request.

What makes me laugh about this whole thing is that at NO point was any bloody player actually named! Well, apart from Drogba. And his name remained unedited. Ok, had someone just come onto the speculation thread & flat out said "It's so & so" and that's it, then I can understand why there might be this discussion. But seriously, all that was done was 2 letters were edited as part of a silly, cryptic message. IMO by editing something like that you actually bring MORE attention to it. Total storm in a teacup.
