Sutton are the last non-league side to beat a team from the top flight in the FA Cup. Ray Stubbs said he didn't think it would happen again, but Crawley might just prove him wrong. The circumstances though could not be more different, Crawley have a League One budget, and their manager isn't exactly the nicest guy in football.
For once in my life, I'll probably be cheering on the Red Devils. (EDIT: By which I mean MUFC!)

If United put out their third team as they did on these recent occasions then Crawley will have a chance.................
United 0 Exeter 0 Southend 1 United 0 Burton 0 United 0

There is a strong argument to against calling Crawley a non league team, and extending that further and calling the Blue Square Prem 'Non league'. Correct me if i'm wrong but are all teams in there full time teams?
Remember it was only 11 months ago where they faced a winding up order and had racked up debts of £1.8million.
Any team who 'buys' success I have no wish for them to be successful. Never thought I'd say this, but come on United

Well said Andy. What planet are that lot on? The two people and their "friends" must have a bottomless pit of cash that they they don't need. OK they probably will get in the FL but how high? Is it worth it?

Is it worth it? And with the exception of Chelsea, what are the inevitable results (See Lewes, Weymouth, Kingstonian, Canvey, Grays etc etc)

The worst part about them getting this far & the United game is that a lot of the expenditure for this season will be covered. 200k in prize money, 100k at least from live game plus at least 1/2 a mill from the match at OT.
So if they get promoted, it's all justified. Anyway, it's the exposure Evans is getting that annoys me more. The guy should be sine die, not leading a side out at Old Trafford.
Not all the sides in BSN are FT though. Hayes are a mix I believe and Histon are definitely PT! As are Alty, Bath, Eastbourne, Southport & Barrow....

Yes but Evans has stated that is all water under the bridge and he is a reformed character.

With the exception of Bath, you've named most of the bottom third of the table (and Forest Green whose divine right is to live in that part of the table and not ever get relegated due to someone else's misfortune a la Weston!)
I'm sure Histon WERE full time when they went to BSN, but their money is drying up so no wonder they've gone PT again

Billy, he was done for contract irregularities (fraud) when he managed Boston. There was rather a big hoo ha about it but it was a good 8 years ago I think. Someone else on here will probably know more about it than I.

By cheating Boston deprived Dagenham of promotion.

Yes but Evans has stated that is all water under the bridge and he is a reformed character. Who is this Evans chap and what has he done ? If it's not too long a story ! To try & keep it brief Billy! When Boston signed players, the players signed 1 contract with their actual earnings and a second blank one. The blank one was then filled in later with details stating the players were earning a lot less than they actually were and these were logged with the FA. When this was found out, one player was said to be earning £165pw, when he was actually pulling in several times that amount and got £16k signing on fee. Evans & the chairman got done for this by the FA, but during the enquiry one witness was paid 8 grand to stay schtum and another was threatened. Despite this, both got big fines and both were banned. Evans for 20 months. The 2 were also prosecuted for tax fraud & found guilty. Sadly, Mr Evans only got a 1 year suspended sentence. Off the back of this, Boston FC were screwed and went from FL to Northern Prem in 2 seasons as well as denying D&R promotion to the FL with a bent squad. I think that's about it. You're welcome.
