Tonight was a little like Saturday in my opinion in that we earned the right to play by being strong early on and forcing the advantage as the second half wore on.
3-0 may have slightly flattered us but I don't think Hornchurch would have too many complaints.
Dundo was immense again and deserved the goals for the general performance and the passing moves just before and leading up to Leroy's goal was nice to see. All in all though it was a decent all round performance right through the side.
We need to keep this up for the three games and then see where we are.
On another note, I agree with some earlier comments regarding the singing of anti-Hornchurch songs. It didnt happen much thankfully but I still prefer the pro-Sutton songs which are far more important and must also be good for the team to hear. I met a few Hornchurch supporters in the bar after the game and they were good guys who wished us luck for the rest of the season.
Really looking forward to Saturday now. Come on the U's

Dundo is on fire without Jolly, he's scored 5 goals in 4 games. Do we need Jolls?

Angels forum reckons their second goal was well offside. They're moaning about the ref tonight - one Mr Crouch apparently!

That was our second big test of the month eventually passed with flying colours. As Frakey wrote, Hornchurch are an awkward side to play against, strong at the back and with pace up front. We looked a bit nervous early on with a few panicky balls, but as the game wore on we gradually got a grip on proceedings. The header that Dundas put just over from an Ebsworth free kick late in the first half was a sign of things to come. It was fitting that Dundo got the breakthrough on 75 minutes, rolling a shot just inside the far post, before hitting the belter of a second. I thought Hornchurch wilted after that, with Fola on as sub causing them all sorts of problems and crossing for Griffiths to calmly stroke home his first Sutton goal. That was the decoration on the icing on the cake. With Lowestoft losing we're now in a really strong position in the league and can go into Saturday's game against them full of confidence. The following Saturday's match at Tonbridge may now be the more important.

Another big 3 points in the bad against a team with one of the best away records in the league. We were giving away too many balls in the first half, but their best chance ironically came from Simon Downer heading out in front of an open goal.
Maybe i was looking through amber tinted spectacles but although Hornchurch were a tough nut to crack, we were always the side who were going to win it. Our problem in the first half was we kept playing long high balls to a team with more height than us, hence we struggled. it was only the last minutes of the first half we started to play the ball and started getting results.
2nd half was more of the same. Dundo's 2nd goal was utterly brilliant, and Leroy's first for us was a subline finish from a class player. I'm not sure that 3-0 flattered us, it kind of reminds me when we suffered the same fate against Dartford last season - held them at bay, and then floodgates opened. This time we did that. Breaking down tough nuts like that is the true pedigree of champions.
MoM for me could have been Dundo, who was yet again brilliant - and has been for the past couple of months, but for me it was Sam Page, who didn't put a foot wrong, and I thought had one of his best ever games in a Sutton shirt.
After tonights results, Lowestofts indifferent run continues and Tonbridge are showing they are real title contenders. Oddly enough its possible that 3 points at the Angels could end up being more important that 3 at home to Lowestoft. I believe we can get 3 points at each. Thats should be the thoughts of a team 8 points clear at the top of the league - we can beat ANYONE in this league and approach games that way - when we go, we win!
Well done to Dos and the boys. Another well deserved win

Dundo is on fire without Jolly, he's scored 5 goals in 4 games. Do we need Jolls? One of the things that has been said is that Jols 'never got the service'. Just think about Jols and Griffiths playing together. And Brad, and Forbes, and Dundo. If I was any opponent, I'd be sh*t scared of that combination. So In my opinion, YES

I met a few Hornchurch supporters in the bar after the game and they were good guys who wished us luck for the rest of the season. Agreed. There were a couple of attempts to do that from a small group of our supporters, which were quickly snuffed out by many of us. I think it helped our win.....

I agree with most of what has been said on here, the first half was tough because AFCHx made it so. They closed us down allowed no time on the ball and to be fair we matched them for that which is why we went in 0-0. The difference is that we had the class going forward if we could get a little bit of space and eventually that came we took it which really changed the game and AFCHx had no answer and when Dundo buried his superb 30yr shot that was the end for them. 3-0 is a reflection of winning that tough battle and by the end it could have been 4. The good thing is we took their best punches didn't falter and when the opportunity came we put them on the canvas.
I think it was a superb all round performance with every department doing its job and a continuation from Saturday.
The support was excellent, the belief is there.
MOTM: No question was Dundo.

That's the type of game you have to win to become champions! One single game wins a league, but with Lowestoft slipping up at Tooting, that was a big win. Dundo was awsome and they just could not handle him. It ws a good all round performance though and everyone played their part well. A real team win.
Lowestoft can complain about Crouch, but the officials at this game were absolute toilet as well. How on earth did Dundo get booked for diving??? Did the ref not figure out that Dundo is a player that does everything to stay on his feet and win the ball??? Tom Davies gets booked for winning the ball cleanly??? Still, inspite of their incompetance we rose above it and won.
Support was great! This felt like a big win and we wnt that feeling again Saturday. The players looked like they can't wait for the weekend.
Well done one and all. Keep it going!
