Tow faults that have dogged us all season cost us this one. Firstly, our tendency to drop deep at the end of the game gave Wealdstone freedom and possession to build their late attacks. Secondly, our poor finishing meant that we did not finish them off when we were on top of the game. Other than that, I don't think we played that badly and credit has to be given to Wealdstone for their performance.
Win our home games and pick up points away and we've got the league in the bag. Sod statistics and what others can or can't do, we're top of the league and it's down to us to take it!!!

Fair enough. We mugged Stones at GGL before Xmas, so to get done late at theirs wasn't a huge surprise. Still a little disappointed though as with 15 to go we looked nailed on for a point, possibly even all 3.
Agree with OS about the change with Fola. Unless there was an injury, we just left the left wide open and we got done. Annoying. Same as the silly 2 man corner which we sodded up late on and just never got the ball back until we kicked off after the winner.
Didn't get going really first half, they dominated midfield. However, having gone behind we made 2 chances that we really should have put away. Still, another marauding display from Dundo and he pulled us level with a nice turn & shot in the box. After that, only one side in it. Sadly though, our shooting boots failed us.
Still, Stones aren't a bad side at all. Played some really good stuff first half and made for an entertaining game. With most other chasing sides drawing, I think we can say we used up our 'goal difference' point yesterday.
Ho hum. Onwards.

If we can win our 5 home games this is what the others have to do, and its a very tall order for them. One will have to emerge from those chasing very quickly and average well over 2pts a game until the end of the season: Sutton United (5 wins from 9 = 82pts) = 1.66pts per game Bury Town (8 wins from 11 = 82pts) = 2.18pts per game Lowestoft Town (9 wins from 12 = 83pts) = 2.25pts per game Tonbridge Angels (9 wins from 11 = 82pts) = 2.45pts per game AFC Hornchurch (11 wins from 12 = 83pts) = 2.75pts per game Kingstonian (10 wins from 10 = 82pts) = 3pts per game It's worth noting that we are the only side in the league to be averaging over 2 points per game.

There were two decisions right at the death yesterday that were influenced by the muppets in the far corner. One of them resulted in the winning goal. It was not until the crowd "roared" that the ref blew. At least we lost with good grace. At least I think we did. Highlight of my afternoon? NOT was having to move my car from where their steward told me to park.

Taz is spot on regarding the late 2-man corner. It was unnecessary and I just hope it will not prove too significant in a few months time.
I agree with most about the game in general. First half was patchy but in the first twenty minutes or so of the second half, we did enough to win the game. Missed opportunities cost us but after the way we got out of jail in the home game, I suppose their late winner was some kind of karma.
I have to say that after all the bad stuff at the end of the game at GGL, the Wealdstone fans in the bar at the end of the game yesterday were good company. Good luck to them tomorrow against Tonbridge.

Oh the bad blood was there - and would have been there in spades if we'd drawn or won. The fact we let in a last minute winner got rid of that - I generally like them as football supporters, but the two times where we robbed them, they turned nasty. It happened season before last as well as this season.

Note: NONE of their players received a yellow card for their winning goal celebration even though all the outfield players piled into the crowd, some running the length of the field to join in.
Would the ref who sent off Forbes PEASE TAKE NOTE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Would the ref who sent off Forbes PEASE TAKE NOTE!!!!!!!!!!!! I did have a bit of a chuckle at the celebrations. Must be about the 4th or 5th time this season oppo players have celebrated like that with no punishment, yet Forbesy shook a couple of hands & got booked. Crazy.

Er, there are a couple in the collection below..........
Personally I think fans who invade the pitch to celebrate a goal are a bit small-time to be honest.

I'd rather have a bundle like saturday occasionally than have my players wave politely from 50 yards away when they've nicked a last minute winner....

Bundles are beautiful, but I don't know, there just seems something a bit sad about invading the pitch to celebrate a goal. After winning the league/a cup or a place in the play-offs/staying up is a different of course. But each to their own, and a late winner against carshalton to win us the league would probably see me do something silly anyways.....................

Take a look at the picture on page 3 of Saturdays Programme. Player celebrating with the crowd and fan on the pitch.

hmm, would that not be seen as slightly interacting with the fans?

Personally I hope that Wealdstone's players get the opportunity to throw themselves into the crowd on at least four occasions tonight.
