After getting all excited by appearing to take a step towards title glory without even playing on Tuesday night, we can potentially return to earth with a bump at home to Canvey tomorrow. Historically we don't have the best of records at home to the Islanders, only winning 3 (I think, was the 1994 league cup tie at GGL or Park Lane) home games against Canvey, the aforementioned league cup tie, a Trophy match in 99/2000 and in the league in the 2008/09 season. Canvey are also on a good run and are looking a good bet in the tight play-off race.
However Football isn't played in the past, and we're on a great run of form ourselves at the moment. And with Billericay v Bury kicking-off at 1, it could be a great boost knowing their result beforehand. And of course the motivation of another 3 points towards the end goal will be powerful.
Let's hope for a good game and 3 points to the super U's!

Looking back a month or so, it's clear to see the progress Canvey have made compared to a team who've had a wobble like Lowestoft. I think they are going good for a play off spot too especially looking at their run in, possibly at the expense of Lowestoft or Tonbridge. A tough match for sure, but looking at the other tough matches we've had this season, we've more often that not risen tot he challenge. I hope we do so again tomorrow.

Canvey are currently second in the 'last six' form table (behind Wealdstone) and have won their last four, including a 4-0 romp at Croydon Athletic. But their two most recent results have only been narrow home victories (2-1 v Aveley, 1-0 v Tonbridge).
Having paid a quick visit to their forum, I see that some of the CI fans are confident of getting at least a point from tomorrow's game. And our friend from Hornchurch has been on there doing some gentle winding-up. ;D

They weren't particularly impressive against us fairly recently and provided we don't get nervous,we "should"win comfotably.Don't feel they are good enough for a play off place.

Canvey are 14th in the 'away' table having won only 4 games. We should not take them for mugs, but we are more than capable of winning this game, especially if we are given the chance to go 9 or 10 points clear.
We are the best side in the league and this is the perfect time to show it!
