For those planning their trip to Billericay in a couple of weeks, just a warning that there are no trains between London and Billericay that weekend. The advertised route is by Central Line to Newbury Park, from where 'rail replacement service' buses will run. Advertised journey time of just over an hour and a quarter in total from Liverpool Street sounds very optimistic to me.

Taz has just found a reasonable alternative - Fenchurch Street to Basildon, and then cabs to the ground from Bas Vegas Station (5 miles)

Yep. c2c services from Fenchurch are running normally that day, so Basildon is an option (about 30 mins from London). For those of you not taxi orientated, might be worth looking into buses between Basil & Bill. We'll be in the Liberty Bounds at Tower Hill by about 11 I'd say. Newbury Park is 20 miles from 'Ricay. Sod that by Rail Replacement. I'd be willing to bet that's at least an hour itself.....

Do you ever think of anything other than rinking, Duke? All your posts seem to have a certain similarity of content ;D

For those thinking of going via Basildon, there is a bus (number 100) between Basildon and Billericay. The buses run every 20 minutes on Saturdays and the journey time is given as just under half an hour. You can pick up the bus at Basildon bus station, which is a few minutes' walk from the railway station, and the bus will drop you in Billericay High Street (opposite the Chequers pub ;D). There are buses back from outside the Chequers at 17.10, 17.30 and 17.50 (and probably later). This has got to be a better option than the rail replacement service ( ).

Never tell anyone to do something you wouldn't be prepared to do yourself, Mr Taylor.
After cycling 40 miles to get there and then hopefully celebrating the end of our championship season with a few beers, I'd really rather not!
