Lowestoft is a lot further north than Oxford. But it's also a long way east, and most of the Conference North clubs are in the north-west or West Midlands, more accessible from Oxford. So there is a respectable case for keeping Oxford City in the North and placing Lowestoft in the South.
If that's what happens (and assuming no successful challenges) I'd imagine the festive pairings next season will shape up like this:
Bath / Weston Basingstoke / Farnborough Gosport / Havant Maidenhead / Staines Hemel / St Albans Boreham Wood / Wealdstone Bromley / Sutton Eastbourne / Whitehawk Dartford / Dover or Ebbsfleet Chelmsford / Concord Stortford / Lowestoft

Whichever way it pans out, at least we won't have to go to either Eastleigh or Hornchurch. Small consolation I know but...

Hayes are allegedly mounting a legal challenge and claiming they should be reprieved rather than Oxford. Looking at the tables i'd say they have a very valid case.Still that didn't help Thurrock! Valid case or not, bearing in mind this statement from the Conference a month ago about Vauxhalls resignation... "In accordance with the Football Association's Regulations for the National League System, and Competition Rule, as the club's resignation has been received before the end of the season, a vacancy has been created in Conference North. Consequently, if Vauxhall Motors finishes the season in the bottom three it will be relegated on its playing record, as normal. If it finishes above the bottom three, Vauxhall Motors will take the place of an otherwise relegated club in the division and only the bottom two will be relegated." Can't see a legal challenge going against that.

Not a chance Hayes will get reprieved - surely reprieves are independant of division so Oxford City would survive with regards to the Vauxhall Motors situation.

There is a precedent though. It involved Carshalton, I recall!

The key thing here I think is that Vauxhall resigned before the end of the season. Other clubs do it after (I think Cambridge City and Hornchurch did) - that's where the precedent comes into play. The fact that they did it before hand and the Conference have announced already what will happen (see above) makes it a different kettle of fish.
