Sorry but I'm going to put myself forward as idiot number one Andy (You're already there - Ed), because I think the 'see through' dugouts are only a very slight improvement on last seasons monstrosities. The view from the first row of the stand is a little better but standing to either side of the tunnel which I know was the favourite spot of many supporters is still a complete waste of time. I don't see why they couldn't have been placed back nearer to the barrier (which does look VERY nice in my opinion.

The ground looks fantastic in my view.
I live the perimeter and the new 'Sutton United' wording and logos on each stand. The pitch looks fantastic and the astro turf and the general cleaning and repainting is clearly evident. Even the brand new sponsors boards look great and make the ground look fresh.
The PA is still horrendous and badly needs improving. Only blot on an otherwise impeccable copybook.

Got to echo the sentiment and say the ground improvements look good.Like Frakey i shall miss the terracing at the collingwood road end for sentimental reasons .I believe the wires to the speakers were severed during the rebuilding.
To the match itself.Bit of a non event for me especially as i was struggling to hear who was playing for us!

That would be a problem for us to achieve with our off centre players tunnel.

As the stand in PA announcer today we were working with limited resources (only the three speakers in the main stand and the one closest to the GGL turnstile on the club side terracing), the remainder being on another loop feeding the speakers on the park side which appears to have been accidently severed whilst the new Collingwood stand was being erected. There is work-in progress regarding improving the PA system apparently - Rome was not built in a day as they say but the modernised Gander Green Lane has emerged inside eight short weeks and for the better

I don't like to criticise as the ground now looks sensational, a million times better, but the only thing I don't like is the dugouts restricting viewing still from the sizeable standing area near the Tunnel. In the 90s I always watched from behind the old 'Allders Dugouts'

Compared to last the last time I attended a game, the stadium looks a whole better and at least the team is trying to approve.

At least everyone knows it needs a new PA system. That's good to hear. I look forward to the day where I can hear the teams being announced.. (I never go in the main stand).

Great to be back down The Lane yesterday afternoon for our first home friendly. The ground really does look absolutely fantastic, especially the club badge and name across the top of the main stand and the new perimeter fence around the pitch - the new covered terrace at the Collingwood Road end also looks great but will take a little bit of getting used to as me being slightly sentimental like others it will be hard to forget the covered terrace behind the goal.
Pity about the PA system as I couldn't hear the teams or anything that was being said but no doubt that will be up and running in time or the start of the season.
Thought we actually did ok in the game itself - Marv is looking very bright already in the early stages of this pre-season and was unlucky not to score in the first half when he had a shot brilliantly saved by their keeper. Reading Dos' programme notes there are a few injuries in the camp with Binns out for a couple more weeks and Spetch out for a month. Wonder where Julian, Lockwood and Reindorf were yesterday.

I understand that Lockwood won't be available for a couple of weeks due to prior commitments.
While I thought Tom was deseverdly named MoM yesterday, Kane and Dammy both did very well.

Could they both not be moved equally further apart until the Collingwood Road one clears the tunnel, and pushed back to the fence? Everything else looks absolutely stunning, and as others have said - the top of the stand wouldn't look out of place at any ground in the country - Except for the wording that is

Thought Spillane had a great game, he must have been knackered hounding those young kids around the turf all afternoon, got the feeling they were used to having more time on the ball but a good work out for our fellas and a real test of fitness a week or so into pre season. Like a few others on the shoebox there were a couple of lads came on who we weren't entirely sure if they were trialists or what , I thought it might be me going Mutt and Jeff in my old age so glad to hear the PA was faulty and awaiting repair. Superb effort getting the ground turned round in a couple of months.

Anybody know who Hibbert was on the bench? Was wondering too. Might be mentioned on official site once a report finally goes up
