As it says in the thread title really, there's under two weeks now until our first game of the season at Maidenhead. Anyone want to hazard a guess at our starting XI for the game based on new signings, player movements made and pre-season performances.
Lovelock, Meade, Clough, John, Foot, Dundas, Spillane, Haysman, Wellard, Taylor, Williams.
Actually reckon Meade and Foot will sign on for us after impressive recent performances in pre-season matches.

I would change Taylor for Reindorf but all the others as listed above.

Haven't seen any pre season games yet so hard to judge (not a fan of them, usually take a look at 1 or 2 of them and it will just be Aldershot this year). Not sure on Lockwood, Hart and Ruddick situations. I would guess Lockwood takes left back if fit enough and available. If he plays Tuesday and Saturday that may be enough? Seeing as Ruddick signed likewise on the other side though clearly we are looking at options in full back areas. Otherwise wouldn't disagree with local boy's side. Aldershot should tell us more I think as I'd expect these last 2 to be treated like the real thing with maybe a last look at 1 or 2 spots.

The thing about friendlies is that it's pretty much a constant state of flux throughout, but Dos does like to put out pretty much his opening game starting XI in the last friendly so once we get to Cambridge we'd have a better idea. The lack of official announcements also is standard and probably right, Dos keeping his options open until he has to, and beyond. Remember that Scannell signed after our first game.

I understand Lloyd Foot has signed. Interesting. Have you got a source at all? Haven't seen this announced as yet.

The lack of announcements has been interesting but guess we'll be hearing more over the next two weeks as we hear up for kick-off.

The lack of announcements would be because there isn't anything to announce. This club doesn't make a habit of announcing squad changes until they're done and dusted and in my opinion that's quite right. Apart from giving fans what might turn out to be wrong information if deals don't get closed, you really don't want to go around drawing attention to the fact that you're in the middle of negotiations with other clubs or players. That's when the vultures swoop in with an ever so slightly better deal.

From Lloyd Foot's twitter page: "Pleased to say I have signed for Banjo for the 2014/15 season. Couple more weeks of preseason and then on to win the league." Amongst those congratulating him are his former team mate Luke Shaw - who I believe has also recently signed for some club with 'United' in its name.

Good signing for us. Certainly adds some height to our defence along with Clough and John already.

Now Official from the Website
Sutton have completed the signing this morning of defender Lloyd Foot, the former captain of the Southampton Under-21 side who has featured in a number of this summer's friendlies. Manager Paul Doswell commented: ''Lloyd's done very well in the pre-season games and will challenge Luke Ruddick for the right-back position. We need depth in the squad with Luke, Callum Hart, Dale Binns and Will Spetch all struggling to be fit for the start of the league season. Luke, Callum and Dale could possibly be available at Maidenhead, but we're looking at the Chelmsford game on August 23 as being more likely, while Will is still suffering from tendinitis in his knee, so we do need back-up. We've been impressed with Max Kontic in the games he's played and we'll be talking to him, and Matt Lockwood will be back with us for the Cambridge United game on Saturday. He's been in Scotland for the last couple of weeks but has been training every day. The only other news concerns Alan Julian, who's had a scan on his knee - it doesn't look to be too serious and he should be available again before the end of August.''

Apparently Lloyd scored 18 league goals for Andover last season despite playing as a centre-back.

Should have a set piece threat this year. Delivery would need to be bang on. We're too hit and miss in that area.
