Yes, visiting Clarence Park brought back many memories for me. As I said yesterday, it's probably the ground in our division that reminds me most of the 90s - Bromley too, I suppose. Have amways enjoyed visiting.

There are some interesting comments on the Saints' forum. Their fans seem quite impressed by the Sutton team (though the canard that we're full-time gets an airing). There's also concern that the £15 admission is keeping spectators away or causing them to spend less once inside the ground. saintschat.proboards.com/thread/2278/sutton-united-game?page=2And which Sutton supporter was the last home from St Albans? I got in about midnight, but I have it on good authority that there were others who were much, much later.

City got a taste of how merciless the cs is yesterday. They could have been comfortably ahead after 46 mins but first Cloughie powered home a header and then as U's took control Jess scored from a finely weighted pass by Kane. And it was Kane who made sure after City had made it a bit anxious for Sutton with a brilliant finish.
Great penalty save from AJ and of course Binnsy made an instant impact to set up the opener.
We looked to have a better shape today although the midfield struggled in the first half. City's defence was poor at picking up the deep runs with Dundo in the first half and then U's last two goals.
We have had decent ref's for the previous two matches and this fella wasn't too bad. He did appear to miss a number of things with both sides suffering as a result but he didn't affect the result and Kane can have few complaints about his late yellow
A welcome victory on a ground where we don't always do that well.

Yes, other than the cheeky fifteen quid admission a really enjoyable away trip with many taking advantage of the door to door rail service if you live in the Borough. Good turn out and good vocal support for the lads. Personally I headed back after a quick couple of pints in the Mermaid but hold tight for what I suspect from what I saw and heard this morning will be an epic Gandermomium.

I understand that the high admission charge is due to the council rent and restrictive conditions on St Albans playing there. It seems that some local residents want them out of Clarence Park!

The owners came out and said at the beginning of the season the higher entrance fee was mainly to pay for an increased playing budget. Madness.
