Some of you may have seen the piece in last weekend's Non-League Paper, in which Dos talked about Jessy's heart scare and suggested that the Conference help clubs fund ECG tests for their players.
In the letters page of this weekend's edition there's a pompous response from one Colin Peake, Media Director of the Conference, who wishes to "advise" Dos and NLP readers "of a few facts". He goes on to trumpet the help that the Conference has given clubs to buy defibrillators. All very commendable of course, only his letter says nothing about ECGs. Dos had been quoted as saying that Sutton Utd already have a defibrillator. If Mr Peake can't distinguish between a defibrillator and an ECG, perhaps he's in the wrong job.

Ah Mr Peake, a man notorious enough in non-league circles to have his own twitter parody account - twitter.com/colonprick (Warning - a bit of bad language in there!)

I had a long chat this week with a leading cardiologist, who already does a lot of work for Premiership clubs, about what the best approach would be for putting in place an ECG "screening" service for all of our players. It was very informative and we think there may be a viable option, subject to confirmation of costs, and we will continue to explore the logistics.

I may write back. Though I thought someone from the club might want to reply in an official capacity.
