If there's one thing you can say about us at the moment is how consistent we are. That's now 6 hours without a goal (over 7 if you count when we last scored against Bromley on 3rd March). Aside from one shot by Fitchett, we didn't look like ending that run today. The playing conditions were poor and as a result neither side showed any decent level of football and to be frank Eastbourne didn't look much like scoring either.
The more I see this side, the more I see players who probably either need to play for a different team to show their potential or are probably not good enough to be a Sutton player in a side which will challenge for the title next year. But for the moment the transfer deadline is done and we're stuck with these players for the final month of the season. Let's try and give them as much encouragement as possible and put this utterly forgettable season to bed.
There's only 1 relegation spot left. Staines as predicted were relegated today. Farnborough threw away a 2-0 lead at Stortford by conceding 2 90th minute goals. That means that they can only get a maximum of 44 points. We will therefore be mathematically safe with 4 points from our last 5 games regardless of other results.

A long way to go on a stormy March day for little or no reward, we should get some kind of badge or something The truth is we are not good enough now in any area of the pitch, our movement is poor, the players lack understanding of each other, and confidence looks on the floor. Our squad is made with the finest grapes yet the wine tastes like vinegar. I wonder if we would of won today if every player had been made to watch 'Next Goal Wins' first? (If you haven't seen it, I recommend it).

Another Saturday, another windy day (this one was bad) and another 1-0 defeat. Neither side dealt with the wind very well when it was in their "favour" and in the end one bad pass, a ball over the top, a misjudged challenge and the game was lost.
Don't believe Borough managed any sustained pressure on our goal and I'm not sure AH made a save in the match, although he was rescued once when Dan W got back to clear off the line. For U's it was another impotent afternoon in the attacking department with only one shot causing their 'keeper any concern and even that was dealt with competently.
Two positives today: there's only 5 matches left and it was great to SmiffyDownUnder on a short visit back to the UK. Dave Smith is a great lad and the fact that this was the only match he could make while he is here meant he drove all the way to Eastbourne to watch an end of season fixture of little consequence to either team . Top fella, it was a real pleasure to see him after so many years.

Frankly, we just need to get to the end of this season then start again. This was dismal fare. It would be unfair to say that the players weren't trying, but there was a distinct lack of desire and inspiration. A slim consolation was that the Eastbourne players (including the ex-Sutton contingent)seemed barely more motivated than our lot.
Aaron Howe screwed up for the penalty that decided the game. Late in the match Dan Wishart had to race back and make an emergency clearance to prevent a second Borough goal. And that was about it in terms of noteworthy incident. Oh yes, and it was windy.
I spoke to two Sutton fans who normally drive to away games but decided to take the train for this one and have a few beers before and after the football. That way they at least derived some pleasure from the day. That's generally been my approach, and it was fully vindicated today.

Opted to go and watch the reserves up at Redhill. Highly enjoyable afternoon full of incident and commitment and goals. Well done again to JB and his team and the clubs highly impressive youth and reserves set up.

With Bromley and Easrbourne beating us with a fair few ex-u's in their side, looks like Dos sold the wrong players, can't believe Howe is better than Lovelock!
