The conference 3G policy appears to be set depending on where Maidstone are that season?
Incredible that this has just come to light, the conference rules should cover all clubs in its setup, and I would not be surprised if it wasn't a slightly illegal stance?

Assuming Bromley have got this right, the Conference appear to have performed a quite outrageous U-turn on allowing artificial pitches.

I heard that the conference position was clear. Nothing but grass in the national top tier. As per the Bromley statement. Be nice to know before the 16th may. The way that mob make it up as they go along and with our ambitions you wouldn't want to take any chances. If what I've heard and what Bromley is saying is wrong then let's hear it from an official source.

Naturally as a Maidstone fan I've registered my support, looking forward to coming to yours next season. A few comments on our forum about your fantastic season ticket idea. As for the announcement from Bromley today re 3G,personally I think the Conference have just got cold feet and didn't want Bromley to proceed with putting 3G down and it causing an issue with the other "precious" members of the top division in non league football. i genuinely don't think they'd prevent a 3G team from being promoted, but who knows.

Thanks Maidstone I'm sure we all appreciate your support. You are probably right about the Conference but it's still pretty ridiculous. What club would want to risk it after spending a quarter of a million quid on a pitch (and potentially a hell of a lot on top if they're forced to go back to grass and/or groundshare if promoted)? This strikes me as very unfair on clubs. I'm not sure if Bromley had as many plans/arrangements in place re their pitch as we do, but the point is they were planning it and now they're being forced to change those plans, which could have been a real asset to their club. It seems the Conference is stifling progress in a big way here.

31st July 2014 - www.footballconference.co.uk/news/details.php?news_id=13034Official statement says intends to allow in all three divisions and that further announcements will follow. As far as I am aware, the Bromley situation is the only further announcement that the Conference have made to date. From the full article, link above: "Following recent dialogue with the Football Association and Football League the Football Conference’s Board intends to allow Competition matches to be played on ATP's, in all three divisions from the start of the 2015/16 season . Such approval will only to be given where surfaces meet the standards of installation and criterion for use, which are to be agreed by the respective authorities.
Further statements will be made as and when the standards and criteria are agreed with all our football partners, ensuring a pragmatic and practical approach is made when considering applications for their use at Levels 1 & 2 of the National League System and associated Cup & Trophy competitions." Pragmatic and practical approach?!

That caveat about standards and criteria being agreed with all football partners appears to mean that anyone designated as a "partner" effectively has the power to veto. I don't like the smell of that. Bromley clearly weren't up for taking any risks with their newly acquired status. This one will run and run and as someone else on here rightly said if some of the heavy hitter clubs in the top tier decide to get busy this could all get very messy. Who would have thought? Admire anyone with the guts to try and administer a football club at this level when you are basically working on a wobbly tight rope with a crocodile down your pants.

So do we take the step of installing one & risk being denied promotion ?

Yes. Whether the football league like it or not these pitches are coming (and it seemed not being voted in for football league was the stumbling block for Conf National).

Getting a 3G pitch and then getting promoted could well result in the Conf Prem getting approval for them - Maidstone appeared to help the case for the North/South

Permitted in every round of The FA Cup - www.thefa.com/news/the-fa-cup/2014/mar/3g-pitches-given-green-lightFor the Football Conference to say that The FA didn't agree step 1 in various tweets from their official account does seem a little odd: Added to which, for the Conference not to announce this is incongruent (see my previous post and their official statement). Something is remiss however I really I can't see it not being agreed, going forwards.

Perhaps they'd like to explain this difference between allowed and approved in this context?
