We should sign Jamie Taylor back and sign Brett Willians from Aldershot Jamie Taylor has past his best, Brett Willams would be a good signing

Parkes has indeed signed for Ebbsfleet Shame, would have been a real coup for us! Ebbsfleet building a strong squad already for the season ahead.

Great news to hear we have signed Craig Mccalister. It seems we are going for promotion again. With Jason Brown, Dean Beckwith, Ross Stearn and Craig Mccalister we have got a really good chance at going for the play offs

I notice that the majority of McCallister's goals were scored at the beginning of the 2000's when he was in his early 20's. However hid did get 38 for Eastleigh in 104 appearances.

I belive Dos wants him to be the target man Fitch can feed off. Hopefully Fitch will then be the 20 plus goal striker we have been looking for.

Lets hope he does Stewart. After the season we have just had together with our potential new supporters we need something to excite the crowd.I did say last season we were missing a target man & i believe you told me we didn't use them anymore !

I suspect that our first choice back four may all be in their 30s.

McCallister of course will be reunited with two of his former managers when he comes to us. And with Dos stating how he wants more of the senior players to help on the coaching side/academy, this signing ticks more boxes than just the target man one.

I wonder if that's us finished now in terms of player recruitment or will we see one more addition?
I'd take Slabber back after his recent release from Bromley but he doesn't see to be able to commit to three mornings of training.

Dos said on the club website that there was still a piece of the jigsaw to come and as I am not sure that the last two signings are the 'familiar face' mentioned recently, I guess that there still may be one more addition.

I suspect that our first choice back four may all be in their 30s. Certainly not questioning the players that we've signed as they definitely add strength but building on Dave's point with day time training and the adoption of 'going full time but not paying full time money' wasn't that supposed to be about attracting young players to the team who had no dependents and helping them build their careers? Perhaps I'm misremembering what Dos said at a Meet the Manager and he may well have mentioned this again at a subsequent one I missed but it seems that our squad is actually getting older since we've made this switch.

Depends who we see as our first choice back 4?
Amankwaah - 33 Collins - 31 Beckwith - 31 Cooper 31 Hart - 29 John - early - mid 20s
So if the last 2 of those (and I expect when fit Callum Hart will be as our only dedicated left back) are first choice, then it changes. Throw Dan Wishart (23) into that mix as well, like he was so many times this season, then the average age drops down a lot). Plus we have Dundas, Southam and now McCallister who probably will make the majority of the spine of the team and are older than all our defenders, Dos is putting a lot on experience for this season. I expect there's plenty of reasons for this - maybe he sees it as the right strength to have, less likely to lose players to clubs buying key younger ones like Harry B, Cloughie etc and keep a solid line up for the season (maybe not the famous "revolving door"), having some of these senior players take more of an active role in coaching (Southam has already been lined up for this as we were told, I expect Jason Brown will be and Mcallister was also assistant manager at Eastleigh).
Without a reserve side this season and maybe relying on the Academy set up to top up the first team when required, experience is essential. And we've got it in spades!
