The ninth Strikers are Key draw of the season duly took place after today's fine win v Havant and Waterlooville. Craig McAllister's brace brought the total inserted in the safe to the princely sum of £1,800.
This week it was the turn of ball 37 to emerge from the purple velvet bag, the ball owned by the syndicate "It's a Dog's Life", comprising Colin " Juan" Payne, Paul Chalmers, Duke, Mark Notton and Nick the Greek.
Syndicate member Duke stepped forward, amid much vocal encouragement, in the quest to choose the correct key and relieve the pesky safe of its substantial contents.
Alas, his selection of key failed in the bid; the safe remained uncracked and will now contain a minimum of £2,000 when we next convene on Sat 19th December after the match v Maidenhead United.
Whose turn will it be next to face the challenge of overcoming this stoic custodian of steadily increasing funds? Be there and find out!
Onwards and upwards.

The tenth Strikers are Key draw of the season took place after today's entertaining 2-2 draw with Maidenhead United.
Ball number 50 emerged from the purple velvet bag (a debut appearance for the "top of the shop"), the ball owned by the syndicate " Kiddo and Starnsey", SUFC stalwarts Mark Kidd and Graham Starns.Sadly for them, the safe continued the obdurate defence of its ever-growing contents; the key selected by the pair unable to succeeed in the mission to relieve it of its bounty.
Once again, the £50 prize was merely a consolation as the fund increases to a minimum of £2,350 ahead of the Boxing Day triple draw next Saturday. In addition to the regular draw, there will also be the opportunity to win a much coveted "day with the team" and a grandstand season ticket for the 2016/17 season.
Onwards and upwards!
Merry Christmas!

The bumper Boxing Day triple Strikers are Key draw duly took place after today's 2-0 win against Basingstoke Town
The results were as follows:
- " A day with the team for two people " - a great insight into Matchday preparation - won by ball 26 owned by Gareth Miller - A grandstand season ticket for season 2016/17 - won by ball 14 owned by the syndicate " One and Four" comprising John Lowe, Mike Harding, Norman Summerfield and Barbara Tickle.. - The main draw with £2,350 in the safe. Ball 44 was pulled out of the purple velvet bag owned by the syndicate " Last of the Summer Whine", comprising Mark Frake, Mark Kidd, Bob Budd and Chris Vagg, the last named of whom stepped forward to try his luck with the keys. Alas; the safe remained steadfastly stubborn and the syndicate collected only the £50 consolation prize.
This all means that a minimum of £2,550 will be up for grabs in the 12th draw of the season after the match v St Albans City on 9 Jan.
Up the U's!

The twelfth Strikers are Key draw of the season went the way of all but one of its 2015/16 predecessors after yesterday's fine win against St Albans City, the safe bulging with £2,700 following Dan Fitchett's hat-trick. Ball number 2, owned by "The Midfielders", was the twelfth different number of the season to emerge from the purple velvet bag - Bedsi Gomis picked up the gauntlet on behalf of his team-mates but the safe-opening key eluded him, earning the syndicate the £50 consolation prize.
Onwards we go to 23rd Jan and the visit of Dartford when a minimum of £2,900 will be up for grabs!
Whose turn will it be next to take on the stubborn old safe? Be there to find out!

It was a special day at Gander Green Lane as the team marked Craig Dundas' landmark 400th appearance for the club with an excellent 2-0 win against an in-form Dartford side in front of a healthy four-figure crowd as local support for the team continues to increase with every passing victory.
Sadly the Strikers are Key safe didn't join in the day's carnival atmosphere, remaining obdurate once again despite Craig Dundas stepping forward to choose the ball from the purple velvet bag! Ball 29 emerged, owned by the syndicate, " Merseyside Branch", comprising Neil Allen and Graeme Carter who picked up the £50 consolation prize having sadly selected the wrong key.
It all means that an absolute minimum of £3,200 will be up for grabs in the fourteenth draw of the season after the match v Bath City on 13th Feb.
Thanks to the ever-popular Craig Dundas for conducting the draw today and heartiest congratulations to him from everybody involved with Strikers are Key - he joins an extremely select list of Sutton United players who have worn the amber shirt of our special club on 400+ occasions and always with commitment, passion and pride. No wonder he is such a fans' favourite!
Onwards and upwards we go as this terrific season continues to inexorably gather momentum.

An animated Players' Bar waited in heightened anticipation to see whether the owner of ball 26, Gareth Miller, the latest number to be plucked from the SAK purple velvet bag, could buck the trend of the last dozen futile attempts to select the much- coveted safe opening key. Today, for draw 14 of 2015/16, the aforementioned safe was bulging with £3,300, tantalisingly awaiting the application of the correct key to finally relieve it of its substantial contents.
Alas; amid a mounting din of noise, Gareth brandished one of the three dud keys, leaving the safe intact and collecting only the £50 consolation prize.
Onwards to Margate in two weeks' time when the booty rises to a minimum of £3,500, a new record figure for the Strikers are Key draw.
Someone, soon, is going to be very happy!
Onwards and upwards we all march....
