Well done England! Absolutely dreadful for 50 minutes, with passes continuously going astray keeping themselves under constant pressure against one of the best teams in the tournament. Finally the inevitable, going behind to a poorly defended corner, and I was contemplating switching off and going to bed. Luckily I didn't as suddenly England became a different team, scoring two very good goals and then running the clock down in fine style. England now face the hosts Canada.

I guess so, I have seen a few games in this Women's world cup and tbh I am a bit disappointed at the quality. Some players do have some skill, but the actual matches are terrible. The pundits are talking about games I am not seeing, I mean if our keeper was beaten from 20yards like the Norway one was we would all be on here wanting a new one. The passing quality is poor and it looks like a kids game half the time. I think our youth side would beat them 10,0 so the women's game has a long long way to go.

I've watched nearly every game and would put the quality of the best teams probably about Ryman level. Having said that there are some weaker teams who would struggle in the sunday league I play in! I've found it all entertaining though

The women's game has a long long way to go. But then attitudes of the general public seem to have even further to go. I know it's your opinion but comparing the men's game to the women's game I think is idiotic.
It's like saying that the 100m womens world record means nothing because the men are faster. In case you've not noticed there is a physiological different between two sexes. And I bet those women footballers can run rings around 95% of people that criticise them.

I thought about this before I posted because I knew it would get the sexiest type reply. But the reality is these are women at the top of the game full time professionals. Although they will not have the physical strength of men, there is no excuse for poor passing, shanking the ball and poor use of the pitch. I sight tennis as a example where women play a slower but just as good a technical game as men.

As somebody who watches a lot of tennis I would argue the two sexes are not equal in technical ability there, particularly on service, but agree with Andy that comparing the two doesn't really produce anything conclusive.

There was nothing sexy about my reply.
There's every excuse for poor passing, shanking of the ball and poor use of the pitch if the amount of finance put into training and the nurturing of the talent is much less than the mens game. It's not just about physical strength.

I fully support the desire of women to play football and am totally in favour of providing facilities and encouraging participation.
I just can't see why anyone would want to pay to see this rubbish and it bugs me that it gets more coverage, publicity and money than, for example, the Combined Counties League, which is a much better standard.

I can't see why anyone would pay to watch golf. Different horses, different courses. (no pun intended)
