So tonight's our third friendly already of pre-season where our brand new 3G pitch gets launched/opened by Alan Pardew!
Looking forward to tonight - should be a decent crowd too!

A great night, a good crowd and we showed some real promise especially in the 1st half when we really should have scored 3. Second half with our changes we failed to give the CP defence too much to worry about, but the signs are good.
A word for the pitch, I thought that bit of mosture made all the difference and it played superbly tonight.
Bet bits of the evening for me, Johnnie turning away one of our cameramen, who ended up late after parking down near the bypass. Having to say excuse me to Alan Pardew to get Tim Vine a team sheet. What a great guy Tim is for treating 100+ listerners to a free show.

I like Tommy Wright.
Palace played at a faster rate than we are used to and SUFC never seemed to fully settle
CPFC the better team of course but we worked them hard

Given that I couldn't make out what was being said on the PA system I had no idea who half the players were. Couldn't hear it properly from behind the goal at the Gander Green Lane end so I moved but it still sounded very muffled. Could be my old age of course!
Defo pen in first half when Fitch was pulled back and we missed some glorious chances. We'll have to be more clinical in the league.
As for the pitch well I hope the few people that have moaned about it were there to see how superb it played. The bounce is true (which wouldn't have happened on a grass pitch at this time of year) and the ball runs perfectly (with the rain on a grass pitch long balls would have skidded off the surface for goal kicks and throw ins etc.).
We look a good side and I personally can't wait for the season to start

The speakers were not on at the GGL end as, on Monday, a jcb dragged down the cable. Hopefully repaired soon.

I was there with all my family last night to see what was in my opinion a completely different united atmosphere.
The pitch was superb and what the chairman and manager plus volunteers have done to the club to transform it has been nothing short of a miracle. A massive well done. We played well. yes we missed chances but we created far more chances in that match then we did most of last season against much better opposition.
I think we have a outstanding chance of winning the league this year.
cant wait for the season to start.

What a great night last night down the lane (apart from the result of course) where we gave a good account of ourselves against an athletic Palace team and were a tad unlucky to lose the game I felt.
Thought our new keeper Worner was solid making a couple of fine saves, both full-backs Amankwaah and Spence impressed me in the first half with their attacking intent as did Ross Stearn on the left wing. We were unlucky not to score at least a couple in the first half with several chances being created.
Second half both teams made a lot of subs which perhaps disrupted the rhythm of the game, with Bolarinwa and Wright really catching the eye for us. I see a few others mentioning Wright, hope we sign him up for the season as he's really impressed me - considering his size and frame he doesn't seem fazed at all facing much bigger defenders.
On we go to Jersey then at the weekend and I wonder if Dos is happy with what he's seeing so far early on in pre-season. We do seem to have a very strong squad for the coming season (though I probably said something similar this time last year!!) - just cant wait to get going on the 8th August now.

From what I've seen so far, this season's side is much more a team than last years were. One could argue that even in the friendlies we were not impressive. This season already we've seen a lot less of that.
Like I said previously the real tests will be the Welling/Bromley games. Perform well there and we'll see how good we really are. Which I think we are!
