Friday 7th August sees Sutton Common Rovers host Colliers Wood Utd - 7:45pm KO in the 2015/16 Combined Counties League season opening game.
This game will be the first SCR league fixture to be played on the new 3G surface at Sutton Utd's Borough Sports Ground.
The Senior side of the club will also be paying it's respect to our much loved 15 year old SCR Colts player Sam Luke Hargreaves who recently passed away from a complex heart condition.
We will be having a minutes applause for Sam before kick off and we will also be having donation buckets collecting for The Brompton Fountain Charity ( to help raise money for research into prevention of heart conditions ).
On the night there will be a special commemorative match programme which will be available for purchase priced at just £2.00 and also SCR enamel pin badges priced just £3.00
Press that are attending should advise in advance to: scrfcsecretary@outlook.com
It will be the LAST time to benefit from purchase of the reduced priced £20.00 season tickets (usual admission £7, saving OVER £125.00). Sutton United season ticket holders can still benefit from £1.00 admission on presentation of their season ticket!!
* Season Tickets can be purchased from by contacting Justin Salmon on justinsalmon2013@hotmail.co.uk up to and including Friday 7th August.
After that match season tickets will still be on sale but for the standard rate of £40.00
Admission for non-season ticket holders:
Adults: £7 Concessions: £3.50 U16's: £1
As I've said before if you have no other plans Friday night before your big opening match on Saturday please pop down and show your support to our small Sutton club as it's really appreciated.
Thanks again and hope to see some of you over the course of the season and good luck to both Sutton clubs this season.
Thanks,
Justin

SCR 2 v Colliers Wood 3 Colliers Wood deservedly took all 3 points but we made a bit of a fight of it near the end and nearly nicked an equaliser. If we had of levelled it at 3-3 it would of been harsh on them as they controlled most of the game. I'm sure they must of been scratching their heads at going in 0-0 at half time as they could of easily been 3-0 up. They took the lead in the second half with a 20 yard thunderbolt and quickly followed it with a second after the striker rounded our stranded keeper. We pulled a goal back through a Jay Holden penalty following a hand ball in the area. Just as we looked like we were getting back into the game they grabbed a 3rd (again beating our keeper to ball to slot home). We then grabbed a late 2nd goal on 90 mins through Francois Gabbidon from close range. We was continuing to pile on the pressure and with virtually the last kick of the game their keeper made a point blank range save getting down well from a chance from 4 yards out to deny a smash and grab point for us. I would like to thank everyone who turned up to support us. Official number of people attending is 202. Also I would like to thank everyone for showing their respect through the minutes applause before kick off (for Sam Luke Hargreaves) and the kind donations we received. I would lastly like to thank Sutton United for letting their home become ours and making us all feel so welcome.

Putting aside a deserved win for CWUFC, and few would disagree, I thought the whole evening was a credit to SCRFC and SUFC. The pitch played a tad slow but is excellent. CWUFC played at Maidstone a few years back in the FA Cup (lost 1-4) and tonight's surface was equally as good. It is a moot point as to whether such a surface is the way forward but, suffice to say, we would be a more competitive club financially at our level (and maybe beyond) if we had the same. I saw numerous Sutton people (football and cricket) at the game which augurs well for The Commoners future at GGL; such a brave move to enter into this relationship. Whether SCR can attract similar support on a Saturday afternoon remains to be seen but I know their club well and I sincerely hope that Sutton supporters will support them as and when they can. One MAJOR positive remains at GGL and that is the excellent bar staff who made us all feel extremely welcome. We, as a club, look forward to the return league game in 2016, also on a Friday evening, and, of course everyone will be made welcome at any time at Wibbandune. A top evening out!
