There is probably five or six away games that whet the appetite, this is one of them. Easy to get to, good ground with plenty of home support. Dartford have always been tough opposition, I don't see that changing this season. I would guess Dos will go with the Tuesday formation. I assume we will boss the game for the first 20 minutes let’s hope this time we can turn the possession into goals. One player to watch out for in the Dartford squad is their winger Jack Simmons. He seems to be an early season fans favourite.

Should go into the match fairly confident of getting a result but it will be a tough match... Going to miss this one which is a shame as Dartford is one of my favourite non league grounds .... Come on you u's!!

Our second game in eight days against one of the Kent clubs, and we should see another crowd of 1,000+. Our record at Princes Park is mixed - we won there twice in the Ryman League, 3-2 and 2-0, but on our return in the Conference South got hammered 6-1. A few Darts players from that last encounter are still at the club. I presume we'll be missing Simon Downer and Craig McAllister through the injuries they picked up on Tuesday. But play as we did at Havant and we must have a decent chance of a good result. So, after Tuesday, I'll make another presumptuous plea to the players: I'd like us to win this one too.

A 2-2 draw seems a good result. Twice coming from behind.

Yes, a point was a respectable haul from this game against a physically strong Dartford side who, but for some fine second-half saves from Tom Worner, would probably have won.
We went behind when Tom Bradbrook rose unchallenged to meet a free kick from near the corner flag. The first equaliser came after we kept up the pressure folowing a corner and Micky Spillane rifled in an unstoppable shot from a tight angle. Darts went back in front in slightly bizarre fashion as Worner and Bradbrook collided, the ball ending up in the Sutton net but with Bradbrook coming off worse and having to be substituted. Our second equaliser came late on as Shaq, on as a sub, battled to win the ball near the corner and sent in a high cross that Collins headed in from close range for his second goal in two matches.
That's four points from a tricky first three fixtures. Now we want to focus on winning our first game on the new pitch.
EDIT: Comments on the Darts forum indicate that their second goal came when Worner's clearance hit Bradbrook in the face!

Great game for the neutral, not very good for the ticker though. Drove home thinking was that a fair result, and decided it probably was. We had chances in the 1st half to be 2 ahead but didn't take them, we started 2nd half ok but once Dundo went off we completely went to pieces for a while failing to win anything in the air, and Dartford turned up the pressure. I think they hit the post so its now 3-1 in woodwork in our 3 matches, and it will be interesting if that does even out over the season?
Wormer had his best game in a U's shirt, 2 absolute stunning saves, and was unlucky with their second as was the guy that scored it. I understand the back pass was short, Wormer has hammered it against the forwards face, knocked him clean out and the ball ends up in the net.
Great resilience to see us come back, Shaq had no right to get that cross in but it was a corker. 4pts from two tough away matches is a very decent return.
£14 to get in, someone is taking the mick? Stewards facing the crowd, never seen that in a non league match. The ground look a bit tatty considering its only a few years old.

Stewards facing the crowd? You should try Woking. Clearly friends of the baying home support, they engaged eye contact at every opportunity, and felt very threatening.

I saw no hostility from any stewards today, but it did look as if they'd been instructed to "look after" the away fans! For example, the stewards facing the crowd were only doing so at the end we were attacking - they were facing the pitch at the Dartford fans' end. And a couple of them kept moving me and AA away from areas where a load of Dartford fans were hanging around, before the game had even started, without telling any of the others to move. Bit bizarre, but nothing too awful.

Strange game football, I thought we played better against Maidstone. Results don't always match performances.
The steward I spoke to seem to enjoy the 'passion' shown from our fans.

We started well and looked the more assured but gave away the ball cheaply that resulted in a corner and then what looked a soft free-kick compared to other stuff that went on from both sides and we were 1-0 down.
It took a while for U's to compose themselves again but they did and a goal mouth incident saw the ball only half cleared and Spills fired home a great half volley from ten yards. We finished the half strongly and Fleets had two shooting opportunities that didn't trouble the 'keeper.
Second half and Dartford was much stronger. And had a number of chances before they scored a bizarre second. Back pass was probably not strong enough and Worms struck the ball straight in the face of Bradbrook and it ended up in the net and as good as Ko'd Bradbrook. He had to go off.
The homeside hit the post and Worms made a brilliant save from the rebound.
Shaq came on and looked to be heading down a cul-de-sac- but with the close attentions of a couple of defenders he managed to whip in a superb cross and Jamie Collins headed home.
After that we were under the cosh but Darts couldn't make it count and in the 6th minute of added time Worms made an absolute corking save to realise a top point for U's.
I think we played ok today against the best team we have met so far. It was a right royal battle at times with a couple of flare ups to boot. Well happy with a point. Thought Spills had another good game but Jamie Collins was top dog today.
Ref looked out of his depth at times today but the one thing I will say about him was he did not react when under pressure from a vociferous (at times) home crowd or some of the antics of their players (not that we were saints today either). All made for good entertainment even it did cost £14 to get in.
