Sutton play unbeaten Gosport this weekend. Will the U's need to score at least three goals to ensure a win or will the new signings help shore up their rather shakey defence? All will be revealed tomorrow.

Wouldn't it be nice to be the first side to beat them. Would make the gap to a potential play off rival just 3 points.

Their away form has been better than at home whereas for us it's been much the same home and away (though we have dropped 4 points from winning positions at home already), hopefully this is a chance to put down a marker about how we will be at home this season, we've been scoring goals just need to concede less!

Collins was excellent in defence winning every header then in a moment of madness concedes a needless penalty which almost cost us the points.Unbelievable !

A really hard fought 3 points today. The first penalty for them really should never have happened, offside in the lead up to it, lino flagged and we had cleared but didn't have possession, and the ref decided he could play an "advantage" even though when that call was made Gosport had the ball - comes back in and we concede the penalty.
Our goal was smart enough to trick a very good Gosport defence and through the two channels we were most likely to score from for most of the game - Stearn on the right and an outstretched foot from McCallister proved to be all the split the sides. We could have been 3 up by half time, with a beautiful chance for Fleetwood the most obvious one we missed.
2nd half was more a war of attrition, and Ross saving a second penalty by our own ex player Jamie White, which was better than the first one, and making a couple of vital saves beyond that. Even without the 2 penalties today, he would have been my player of the match - the most confident I've seen him all season and really showed his class.
Not only a good 3 points for us, but a VERY GOOD 3 points against a side not many teams will win against. Hopefully that will put us in a good frame of mind for which undoubtedly be the hardest league game of the season at Ebbsfleet on Tuesday.
Well done lads - I'm now going to wait for Mr Frake to post, because I'm actually dying to know when was the last time we saved two penalties in a competitive game (and not in a shootout). over to you!

Despite wearing a pineapple on his head, the Gosport keeper was simply outstanding today. Many of his saves were top draw, plucked from certain goals out of the top corners on some occasions. Our forward play was very good and on another day would have been rewarded with 6.

Apart from both goalkeepers who had excellent games a special mention for Gomis who was all over midfield for us today & his energy has been sorely missed.

There was only one goal in this game, but had it not been for some top-drawer goalkeeping by both No 1s then there would have been a few more. Ross Worner was MotM with his two penalty saves, one in each half, the first from Justin Bennett and the second from Jamie White, neither of whom is exactly a slouch in front of goal. But Nathan Ashmore kept his side in the game with a string of saves, particularly in the first half when Sutton were dominant. As last Saturday, McAlister gave us a half-time lead (and also saw a shot hit the post), but, unlike last Saturday, we didn't concede in the second half and held on for the three points and our second clean sheet of the season.
As for the recent squad changes, I thought Bedsente Gomis and Craig Eastmond gave us plenty of mobility in central midfield, and Glen Southam wasn't obviously missed.
