A big test beckons for Sutton tomorrow evening as we host Oxford City, the surprise package of the season. City have made a flying start after switching from the North division and are 2nd in the table, having lost only once in the league all season. Their away form is particularly impressive: five wins out of six, seventeen goals scored and only three conceded. But they did get turfed out of the FA Cup 4-2 at Bognor. This is a chance, under the GGL lights, for our players to prove that they're better than their last two results would suggest.

Respect definitely required, with their last 3 away games finishing. 6-0 - 4-0 - 2-0 thats a lot of goals and 3 clean sheets. If want in on the action at the top of the table, this is where we need to prove ourselves.
I am looking forward to this one.

Looks a good game on paper. Anyone near the ground know if there's any fog about? I'm in Dorking, which I know has its own micro-climate, and you can't see more than a foot in front of you.

We have lost to most of the teams that are near the top. It is time to start winning these games.
We can do it!

I think they will be very good defensively.
We must be patient.I think we should be too good for them.

The pitch is very impressive ! Sutton started well and could have had an early lead before the man in the pink boots scored with a neat finish.Oxford City should have had a penalty as well while leading 1-0.Sutton could have had a goal or two after the break. The manager had his usual altercation with the opponents bench , helped by the big reserve goalie. The crowd was announced as 809 ?Who makes these attendance figures up , Hans Christian Andersen ?

What an absolutely cracking game played at a frenetic pace with high quality passing. For those of you that didn't realise Oxford are a very good side and we more than matched them. We should have been down to 10 men and conceded a pen but of course that wouldn't have happened had our disallowed girl been allowed to stand. Certainly there was no foul on the keeper so no idea why it wasn't given.
We were outstanding in the second half hitting the woodwork twice and their keeper made a couple of decent saves. Also Fitch unfortunately got in the way of a Gomis goal bound shot with the keeper beaten. A bit unlucky not to win in the end but I guess we must be more clinical.
Roll on Saturday. Can't wait

A game of two halves. What happened to change it?

Yes, the attendance figure will have included non-attending ST-holders. Don't forget that the club sold more STs this season!
This was a fast and furious match, littered with yellow cards, against the best team to have visited GGL this season, but on chances created we could well have won.
City took the lead from what I think was their first corner of the game, a well-worked routine seeing the second ball in played to the unmarked Kynan Isaac who fired home. We almost equalised before half-time from a goalmouth scramble before the ref blew for a fk. We improved in the second half and began to get some good crosses in from the left. One of those, from Dan Wishart, was begging to be tapped in at the far post but Fitch couldn't get a decent connection, nor could he convert when the ball came back in. That kick-started our best spell of the match, and the next cross, from Tom Bolarinwa, led to the equaliser as the ball was turned in by a visiting defender. We came close a few times to getting a second, not least when a corner struck the post, but in the final 15 minutes we lost a bit of impetus and the pace of the visitors' attack continued to stretch our defence. Ross Worner kept us on level terms late on with a great save from a fk.
That result means we've now drawn four out of seven league games at GGL, arguably all matches we should have won. And we've now played all of the current top five without beating any of them. On the positive side, we've only lost one of our last nine, and that narrowly to a side from the division above.

The figures are correct when one takes into account absent season ticket holders and the like Thankyou for explaining.Have i got this right ? The attendance figure of 809 includes about 300 people who didn't attend ?
