I was reading an interesting thread on the West Ham forum called. "Has anyone on here ever played professionally?" Who is TootingRob? Postby TootingRob on Thu Nov 26, 2015 5:13 pm Played for my school, then district (Wandsworth) then London schoolboys was on the books at Cobham, Sutton United and Epsom and Ewell. Never ever noticed anybody watching was to busy trying to not be *****. Failed miserably injury prone and to be honest not good enough punched way above my weight. Took a break after doing my ankle ligaments for the fourth time in two years. When I came back played with mates in good old fashioned Sunday football which I loved. Looking back I think I hated playing for the semi pro teams, training was never fun and travelling up North as an unused sub when the managers favourites are playing and you are far better is a crusher. At Sutton I was fined more than I picked up in wages. Oh and this was all mid to late eighties. Think my last game was maybe 1990. www.kumb.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=161200&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

The only "Rob" around then was Robin Seagroatt.
May have been Ian Rondeau.

Mark - surely too early for Robin, wasn't he still in the youth team in 89 (and even played with us in East Cheam reserves!)

Wasn't there a Robin who got a hat trick at Gateshead when we won 9-0

Dave, I have checked and Rob Seagroatt was playing in the late 80's just not sure that he went onto play for E&E though.

Ian Rondeau could be a good shout. He was quite often an unused sub for Sutton during the late 80s.
