Could be played on the Sunday? Hope not as its my birthday and I've kinda got plans!

Not a bad former U's team there off the pitch tonight either:- Bob Mapleson, Steve Watts, Jimmy Dack, Eddie Akuamoah, Andy Scott and Micky Joyce. Oh, and Chris Vagg ;-)

I didn't see any of those esteemed personages! Would have loved a chat with Dacky. The only ex-U I got close to was when I accidentally walked into Mr Spillane as he wandered out of the tunnel.

Any chance that it could be a double match day. Rugby do it at Twickers so why not at Sutton.

Looked solid again last night and always looked like winning even when Lowestoft equalised. 3 great goals from Dundo, who could have had another one towards the end of the first half. Curzon will be a very strong team, like ourselves, and it should be a great game. With regards to us four behind the goal, I think we'll stick to the standard songs from now on to encourage a bit more participation - besides we're starting to confuse ourselves!

wasn't the greatest game last night,
but we got the job done.
defence looked shaky at times especially in the first half, second half they were a lot more comfortable.
game was dead after the 3rd went in sadly they gave up.
Tom Bolarinwa gets into some great positions and runs all day but needs to lift his head a bit more, he tries to do it all himself, both wingers worked incredibly hard Ross was the best player on the pitch.
lot more balance in the side this season which is good to see.

Any chance that it could be a double match day. Rugby do it at Twickers so why not at Sutton. We couldn't have done that with our old pitch but now you mention it, it might be a possibility. Could be fun, but I would have thought our game would have to be the earlier one, otherwise there would be problems with Trophy gate receipts etc. And SCR fans won't want to pay our FA Trophy entrance price, but might be a bit miffed if a large proportion of their crowd effectively didn't pay to get in because they were already in the ground. Because obviously this time we couldn't share gate receipts with them! If we can get around that little problem, I think it would be a nice day for the two clubs to share.

Below is a neutrals view of the game. Warning! He does say some disparaging comments about our hero Monday night therapy (along with a plethora of gents of a certain age) at... Sutton United 3 v 1 Lowestoft Town - FA Trophy 1st Round Prog 20 pages £2.00 - Admission £12.00 - Att 454 ...and a rare afternoon where I did not have to take a sneaky diversion at w**k onto Twitter etc to see if the match was taking place or not. 3G pitch played perfectly. Straightforward passage into the next round for the hosts against opposition who often gave the impression that a damp Monday evening in Sutton was not high on their list of destinations, needless to say that Lowestoft were pretty toothless going forward, rarely won many of those midfield battles that the punditocracy informs us are so crucial in winning games. Though in their defence, their defensive abilities managed to avert a heavy defeat. Basically they played like a team that is struggling in their league. In contrast Sutton are having a good season and this was reflected in their play, though overall their finishing could have been better. Early on Dundas broke clear of a disinterested defence rounded Jessop in the Lowestoft goal but thought that he could fool the referee by throwing himself to the ground, an offence for which not surprisingly he was booked and pretty certain that it was not the first time that I have seen this antic from the aforementioned. Much better from Dundas for the remainder of the match with a three goal haul, his first was a simple tap in after Jessop (whose handling all evening did not inspire confidence) could only parry a powerful drive from Stearn into his path. The only real surprise of the evening was Lowestoft securing an equaliser with Henderson's goalbound effort being headed in from a matter of inches out by Woods-Garness who was accredited with the goal. Normality was quickly restored when McAllister at the back post diverted a free kick into Dundas' path for a routine close range finish. Second half rarely reached any heights, though sure that Sutton were conscious of the fact that their one goal advantage could be pulled back and they would be facing a Tuesday evening on the east coast. Dundas ensured that an afternoon battle travelling up the A12 was averted when he latched onto a long ball forward from Wishart, one bounce and decent finish past the underprotected Jessop. In the closing minutes, had to feel a degree of sympathy with Reed for the visitors, good run forward put him clear of Cooper, the former took a tumble inside the area (from our angle there looked as if there was contact) and all Reed had to show was a brandishing of a yellow card from a referee who clearly was not convinced by Reed's seemingly enforced tumble. Methinks Curzon Ashton in the next round will provide Sutton with a more stiffer and focused test than what was displayed here. www.nonleaguematters.co.uk/forum/gforum.cgi?post=706245;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;guest=83317158

I'll put money on SCR's game being moved to a Sunday.
Anyway last night showed again what a good side we are - winning a game quite easily without really getting out of 2nd gear. It wasn't a tough test to be honest, but the fact we were not complacent shows what a good side we have - in previous seasons we'd have taken the opposition more for granted and possibly slipped up. I'm undecided if this is the best side we've had under Dos, but I reckon it's turning into the most professional. There certainly were a couple of players yesterday who had a bit of a bad day at the office, but this was well covered by others, as AA said especially by Dundo and Stearn.
On to Curzon, who on the form table, play a lot better at home than they do away. I'm sure the team will carry on doing their professional job.

Great win for the club last night and as a result progressing to the second round. I enjoyed the game (perhaps because we were playing different opposition compared to usual league teams) where we fully deserved to win with Dundo's second goal key just after they had bagged an equaliser (I thought it should have been disallowed for offside).
Now we can look forward to a game against little-known Curzon Ashton where the reports are we should be in for a tougher test than last night.
Up the U's!

I understand that this was Dundo's first hat-trick for Sutton, and the first by any Sutton player since Kyle Vassell's against Godalming Town in the SSC four seasons ago.
Dundo could be forgiven for feeling a touch of extra satisfaction, as in the league game at Lowestoft in October 2010 he was rather harshly sent off.
As for his yellow card for simulation, I was one of several Sutton fans close to the incident and I thought the ref got that decision wrong. I was a lot further from the incident late in the game when a Lowestoft player was booked for the same offence, but that decision also looked dodgy - indeed, some of us feared that the ref would award a penalty to them.

The linesman actually indicated to the ref it was a penalty but thankfully the ref overruled him.
Dundo was excellent last night and i wish a certain other player would show that kind of commitment !
