Crawley's web-site reports that a Crawley X1 beat Sutton 2-1 yesterday in a behind closed doors friendly. Crawley's winner was a late own goal. Probably getting some of our fringe payers some playing time.

A few weeks ago i thought that Ebbsfleet were our main challengers for the title but now i'm looking over my shoulder at Maidstone.I didn't expect them to be still up near the top.

Ebbsfleet obviously still firm favourites. They have a big points advantage. If we can play well enough for title to be alive when they visit great. Would be a nice little earner if nothing else! Maidstone aren't going anywhere and they have now started scoring to add to their excellent defensive record. Could be a massive game there and I'd imagine potentially all ticket.

As we were - the same criteria still apply. If we win every game we will be champions. Just now there's a little more threat in us coming 2nd or 3rd with Maidstone winning.
Win our 4 games in hand and we'll go above Ebbsfleet on goal difference.

..............if Sutton's & Maidstone's results continue in a similar vane, should be a cracking game at Maidstone on April 5th with Sutton the visitors.

The 'problem' is how long it will take before our games in hand are actually used up, looking at the fixtures even after we've played them we will still have a game in hand as Ebbsfleet then only have one more fixture two weeks after. This means that, if Maidstone were to drop off, even if we were behind Ebbsfleet by 3 points at most after playing them we could still start the final day top of the table. I love all this random speculation, it's a great time to be a Sutton fan!

Amazingly enough Ebbsfleet don't actually play on the penultimate Saturday of the season (I presume with cup exits they re-arranged that game they had due for that date (in the same way that we did earlier in the season when we were "out" of the trophy), so our games in hand used up in the last week of the season. So if we are ahead of them after we play them on the 16th, we'd need 3 points in our last 2 games (Home to Chemlsford and away at Oxford to be ahead of them).
Of course that doesn't take into account Maidstone, but Ebbsfleet to me are the one's who have set the bar we have to reach.

Maidstone have lost 7 games and will probably lose one or two more (hopefully 5 April being one) so I believe that it is between us and Gravesend. If we lose at home to them then I fear it will be to much for us but if we win then we have a great chance. We have some tough fixtures left though so I think it's a big ask.
Let's see what happens over the next few games as FLeet should have a few players suspended!

Idle and pointless speculation I know, but given the choice would you prefer to be Ebbsfleet (Pl 34 Pts 70 or Sutton (Pl 30 Pts 58) at this moment in time. Ignoring potential suspensions and tricky looking fixtures for either side during the run in, we have to take maximum points from all games in hand and fatigue could set in - I still think Ebbsfleet are better placed.

I agree but think a 1 match swing to us from Ebbs would put us in the driving seat, likewise one away from us could pretty much close the door. The reason for speculation is its all on a knife edge

We don't actually have to take maximum points now.We can afford to lose a game provided we beat Maidstone & Ebbsfleet on the day.

Ebbsfleet are in the driving seat until we overtake them on points in my book, regardless of games in hand

I don't think we will take max pts, but 4 games in hand and 8pts would be bang on the money, and avoiding defeat against Ebbs and Stones would put us very close to the title. Our GD gives us a extra point which could be very important.

It's going to be a great finish to the season, if you and us (maidstone) win our games in hand, the pressure will really be on ebbsfleet, some really tough games to come, looks like sutton and maidstone have the hardest run in.
