'Twas nice to be top of the league for a while this afternoon...

4 0 didn't flatter us at all today against one of the worst sides I've seen all season. I'd be really worried if I was one of their fans about their future at this level.
We were indeed top of the league for about 45 min. Bearing in mind we were 14 points behind a couple of months ago that's still a huge achievement.
Good performance today but some silly yellow cards. Gomis limped off so hope that's nothing too serious.
4 to go.....

Tom Bolarinwa.. He takes defenders on a waltz, yet only he knows the moves. What a season he is having, capped with another fine performance today.
Dan Wishart was also sublime. Could easily play at a higher level. Sometimes it almost looks casual for him. Fantastic.
Eastmond and Bailey were both controlling and did the job, as did the collective defence and Ross. Nice to see Kev notch!
Well done all!
Great support for the team again and a very pleasant afternoon's work.
On to Monday!...

Defenders just can't cope with him and the amount of goals he has created or scored this season is unreal. And fully agree re Dan. Sometimes he finds it too easy. He should be paying at a higher level given his strength, pace and ability. For sure.

The players did the job without really getting out of second gear.Margate were poor & lets hope Stortford aren't any better so that we are fully fit for Ebbsfleet. Top of the league at half time, lets do it again on Monday then stay there until the end of the season.

Great win. Winning by four, as opposed to Ebbsfleet's 3-1 win, has some significance. Due to our far superior goal difference, we can clinch the title by winning the next three games. If we avoid a points deduction then we only need to win the next two (barring any really heavy defeats in the final two). It's just a matter of belief now. The nightmare scenario, however, would be to be deducted three points and lose to Ebbsfleet. If that happens we’ll be up a certain creek groping for a paddle.

Our biggest away win of the season, athough we could hardly have picked a better time to play Margate following the recent exodus of funding and players. (They only named three substitutes today.) This was as close to a routine victory as you get at this level, and completed our sixth league double of 15/16. And, also for the record, this was our first ever win at Hartsdown Park.
It wasn't all good news as - apart from Ebbsfleet winning - we lost Bedse Gomis to injury and picked up four yellow cards. At least Maidstone's second 2-1 defeat of the week at the Gallagher almost removes them from the title race.

Very soft yellows awarded and yet Mr Fitch chose not to award a second yellow to the Margate 9 (booked in first half) for hauling down Nick Bailey in a break-away in the second half; he played an advantage and chose to just 'have a word', shortly after which Margate subbed the player. Very frustrating. No, poor officiating.

Comfortable victory against a team who looked to be heading out of the league with a whimper. Once U's had taken the lead Margate looked unlikely to change the course of the match even if we did take our foot off the gas (maybe understandably after Tuesday's gargantuan effort).
A great finish from Tom B, a soft but obvious pen decision, the spot kick dispatched well by Bedse gave a 2-0 lead and temporary leadership of the division.
Second half the home team showed more spirit and endeavour but Ross W was rarely troubled and Kev scored from a corner before Wish scored the goal of the match. Brilliant first touch, wonderful flick over two opponents to run away and strike on the half volley. Brilliant.
As for the ref. Poor with use of his cards. As Millsy says no 9 should have gone and how is Wassimer allowed to shove Dundo two handed in the chest as the ref was booking Craig for the foul? No card of any colour. Complete rubbish.
Having won at Wealdstone, Gosport and now Margate for the first time ever, U's now have another first to record to keep them on track, a home CS/NLS win against Stortford on Monday night.

I agree with Mark that the penalty decision was soft, yet a definite spot kick.
One of the most stupid decisions from a defender I have ever seen. Ball slowly rolling out, Fitch shielding it, yet the defender decides to try and stamp through Fitch to avoid a corner. Unbelievable.

I'd just like to say that Margate, like Maidstone, were very gracious hosts, both in the boardroom and on the terraces. Quite a few home fans came up to us after the game to shake hands and wish us well in the title run-in.
