Weight of expectation on him will be much higher than here. Fans will expect an immediate return to the National League.

Kinda makes me sick seeing this TBH.... Know the feeling. Especially in the news story where he says: “My job is to put smiles back on people’s faces and I’ll be involved with that whole aspect in and around the club." Good luck to him of course though!

It's always sounded a bit like he could do with a proper break by having a season off, though I do understand what he has said regarding still being involved in football and the travel. Tough league the South next season. It seems strange if they went up first season then the travel for half the games would be even worse (though I get the whole training thing and being closer to home for all that!!).
Wonder if a couple of our players might be in line to follow, particularly where now perhaps not at National Level or struggling with the demands. I'd hope our core won't want to drop a level. Perhaps they can send us Alfie Rutherford to soften the blow!

H&W are absolutely entitled to dispense with a manager who has got them relegated, and Dos has earned the right to take any job offered to him, especially one on his doorstep. So clearly nobody has done anything wrong. Still feels a bit rubbish tho

I think this is fine. Logical for Dos. He's given so much to us but we could never expect him to be ours forever.
We just need to focus on our club's future, now. We're in decent shape (thanks to Dos), so let's look forward to it. We'll see some changes and there's no reason why they shouldn't be good ones.

Whilst not unexpected this is a worry as we have tended to sign players from the M3 corridor. Dean Beckwith, Tommy Wright and Brett Williams to name a few. Add to that less travel in the conference south and Paul's reputation I would be surprised if some players do not follow. Hopefully those living closer to Sutton will stay.

I was pondering from watching some of Dos' interviews whether he might have benefited from a season off. Obviously he has made up his own mind that it will be ok with the reduced travel but sometimes it's hard to say no, especially for someone so committed to football! I wish him all the best, as we all do I'm sure, and you wouldn't write off Havant doing well next season. They certainly have a very significant upgrade on their last manager. Their supporters will find it refreshing to hear sensible, honest interviews too after Bradbury!!

I would be very surprised if Brett was considered anything more than a back up squad player for them. Tommy is an important one for us to keep and I'm not sure a move down will do him any good, other than perhaps a loan move if he needs some games following the serious injury. Dean would be understandable at his stage in his career.

If he is fit and able to play at the level before his injury we would want a minimum of £50k plus 30% sell on I would imagine. The only place he's going is to the EFL once he's completed his apprenticeship with us. The core of our players are on contract although I accept that a few aren't and some will move on. It depends who the new boss wants in his squad so we'll just have to wait and see.

We have players currently on contracts that do not expect to be at the club next season.

Of the many fulsome and heartfelt tributes to Dos posted in this thread I would choose Sallycat's as saying everything I would wish to have said, but more eloquently.
The reason I posted nothing myself was that after watching his departing interview - I felt we might not have been told the full story. The points Dos made were unarguable. I once had a two-hour each-way drive to work and I stuck it for 1 year. I am in awe of a man who endured that for 11 years. And that for his unpaid hobby, not his work in property development! Then Dos talked about being diagnosed diabetic. Luckily I don't suffer that but my three best friends do. Managing when you eat is as important as what you eat, so is cutting down on stress: I am not sure Dos has made a significant improvement in that sphere.
Bairdy goes as well - so let me be one of the first to thank him for his great work at Sutton and the perfect tone he set when being put up front to camera to explain some of our lesser performances.
I remain a tad cynical: I think from the Club announcement meeting to Dos's arrival at Hawks I have seen a stage-managed performance in three acts. Never mind. Onwards Sutton - and hopefully upwards.

Thanks pinewalker.
You could be right about there being more to it, but it doesn't really matter, does it? Dos may have owed us an explanation for leaving us after 11 years, but he gave one to us and what he doesn't owe us is every little detail behind a personal decision he had every right to make. I've heard a couple of people saying "I don't believe that's the full reason" but who cares, that's private even if it's true (the reasons he's given are more than justifiable for moving jobs even after pledging one's loyalty), and would you want him to stay with us if he were happier elsewhere?

You are right again, Sallycat. It does not matter: I would have bought shares and renewed my season ticket even if I knew about the departures. And I can still wish Dos success at Hawks - though not to the extent of wishing to see him back at GGL in the away dug-out anytime soon - I would rather U's remain one division ahead!
