Well our last game of a difficult season.Sounds like a two or three youngsters will be stepping in to the breach and if they start as well as Bradley then the future is bright. Dover have picked up a lot in recent months so we have another tough game in prospect.

Dover's current form is nuts - it's a bit like Solihull's in the last half of last season. Maybe that bodes well for them for next season? Funnily enough if they get 3 points off us on Saturday, they could end the season higher than they have been at any point since the start of the season!
It's going to be an odd game for us, the first since we knew Dos had gone. With a side bereft of a huge number of first team players, it wouldn't surprise me if we can't name a full roster on the bench. After the last few months, and especially Monday, I won't be sad that we've seen the last of this season and by the time we regroup in July who knows who or what will be in place.

Ha ha. I think we'd prefer a manager who won't want to throw their players under the bus at the first opportunity!

A bit of a harsh result for a cobbled together U’s team that fought hard and created a few chances. Glad it’s all over, we start again in a few months with a new manager, our usual optimism and, hopefully, a back four!

A bit of a harsh result for a cobbled together U’s team that fought hard and created a few chances. Glad it’s all over, we start again in a few months with a new manager, our usual optimism and, hopefully, a back four! That pretty much sums it up. We gave it a go in the first fifteen minutes of the second half and a surging run from Tombo (back in the wide right position) ended with his shot hitting the bar. But Dover were the more incisive side, even if their very late penalty added a flattering gloss to the scoreline. We finish tenth. Considering our difficulties in the final third of the season, that's a respectable outcome.

I'm wondering how many of those players will start the first game of next season.

I'm wondering how many of those players will start the first game of next season. Largely dependent on who our new gaffer will be I think, if it's someone from the current set-up there could well be some continuity and a large contingent of the squad being retained - yet if the new appointment is an outsider the squad may well get dismantled - who knows?! Admittedly I haven't been to many games over the last six weeks or so but I do like the look of Barden - I hope we sign him on for next season, Beautyman also displayed his usual energy in midfield. Mentions also to Lema and Mason who despite their inexperience at this level I thought did ok yesterday.

The final chapter on a difficult season ended on a windy afternoon at Crabble. A 215 mile cross country round trip for me taking in the delights of Hastings sea front, Romsey Marsh and the likes of Dymchurch - it took ages to get home but a far more pleasant drive than the motorways and the roadworks.
As for the match, U's started slowly, conceded, had a couple of bright spells either side of the break before the home side doubled their advantage and a last minute pen, the fourth conceded in the last four matches, gave a rather flattering score line to in form Dover. It didn't help losing Nesit so early on but was in keeping with the season as a whole. Well done to the two academy lads, Crossley making his first NL appearance, Mason his first start, who showed up well. Tom B came closest when his effort came off the bar while Brett W forced one fine save from Dover's departing 'keeper, Walker.
The ref, who was the guy we had at Boreham Wood, had a much better match (not difficult) although I thought we had a decent shout for a pen for handball in the first half. As it was, the first free-kick we were awarded came in the 44th minute, the first in Dover's half, the 49th; the chances of getting a pen out of him therefore, highly unlikely.
And that's it. Have to thank the effort from the players, mam=management, etc in what has been such difficult circumstances and a tenth place finish should be applauded.
We move onto an important summer for the club with one big decision to make and a fair few others probably to follow.
