Actually if you don't read too hard between the lines, it sounds very positive! Let us hope that's the case.

It belongs to the council I think? Yeah, I read earlier in the week that the council won’t let Gateshead use the ground unless Cala is no longer their owner. They’ve already been forbidden to train there.

They've not been happy with Cala since she was suspected of setting fire to her warehouse in Coronation Street.

It sounds like in addition to being evicted from their stadium, all Gateshead players are unpaid and out of contract, long serving staff have been sacked by e-mail, and the club is considering voluntary relegation from the league. A group of supporters want to form a new club and start again from Step 7 (or 5 if they can). Will Aldershot get a reprieve I wonder? Statement from Gateshead Soul Supporters Association

I'm by no means an expert on the situation, but I strongly suspect that the GSSA's statement is a far more accurate appraisal of Gateshead's current position than the ridiculously rose-tinted spin put out by Dr Ranjan's office earlier this week.
Desperate times indeed.

I think it's terrible when any club has to fold but the abyss between the riches of the Premier League and the rest of football is frankly worrying. I think that the FA should try to bail out more teams as long as their owners are "fit and proper."
