Glad to hear that playoff aspirations are on the agenda. We were probably a striker and a defender away from achieving that this season, although with the players we've now lost, there's undoubedtly some more squad strengthening to do. Here's hoping for some quality signings over the coming months. Have to say I didnt realise Matt was in his 30's, his bearing and sense of authority made me think he was older.

He's the same age as me. I was surprised too, considering all the managerial posts he's had.

As he said, he had to give up playing at 25. That's 12 years. Maybe one club period for the few, not the many (oh sh*t, I have just paraphrased Corbyn - help!).

An interesting list of clubs. I was put off by the Millwall connection (as scout), but I would be interested to know what criteria he uses to select good players, particularly centre forwards.
I was surprised to see that there is no Wikipedia page for him.

Fair point - I haven't been able to listen to the interview yet so didn't realise he had to stop playing so young. I tried to find him on Wikepedia too!

For the record, Paul Dowell doesn't have his own Wikipedia entry either, which is quite extraordinary when one reflects on his achievements with us.

I thought he did, but you're right...He definitely needs to be added to the "list of notable former managers" on the main SUFC page. Any manager who stays at one club for 11 years would be notable even without winning league titles and breaking achievement records left and right like Dos did.

Wikipedia pages are user generated. There isn't one for Dos or Matt because no one has made one. Doesn't stop anyone making one!

Unless the rules have changed recently, I believe that in order for a footballer/manager to get a Wikipedia page, they must have played or managed at a League club: non-League legends don't qualify. Not too long ago I put quite some effort into writing a page for Craig Dundas before a moderator wiped it.

I didn't realise this until now but he's right, Stewart. Of the players listed on the link you provided, all of those who have their own pages have previously been employed by Football League clubs.

Surprised Dos hasn't made his own ! That's testament to his humility.
