It goes up the A61, which is quite close to the west of the station but important to note the ground is east of the station, so actually our paths shouldn't cross if we're using public transport.
Given that the World Championships is quite a big event for the town and roads will be closed, I'm surprised Harrogate haven't requested to be away that day.

I'm surprised too, but now that the fixtures are out, I can't see Harrogate postponing the fixture unless the council force their hand. They'll get a better crowd even with disruptions than they would on a Tuesday night (couldn't see many Sutton travelling there midweek).
I would have thought most HTFC fans live in or close to the town, so hopefully it won't make much difference but I'd leave it a while before purchasing train tickets. Not that it makes much difference on that line, reductions for early bird fares are few and far between.

Another option might be to go for an evening kick-off as the race should be over completely by 4:30. But I hope they don't...

Actually Sally, I think you could be on to something there. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they did that.

Perhaps HTFC didn't think of it. Hopefully they have consulted with local authorities etc.
With regards to moving ko back, i believe both teams have to agree on that and i am not sure Sutton will.

Hope you're right Mark. Wouldn't affect me personally because I'll spend the weekend up there with friends but I don't see why Sutton should bend over backwards to accommodate anything HTFC or their local council want us to do.

Could the police insist on a change to the fixture if they were worried about safety? I don't think they're necessarily likely to, it's a non league match after all, just wondering if it's a possibility.

I'm not sure, but I would imagine they could if, as you say, they deemed it to be a public safety issue or if they believed their resources would be spread too thinly. Given that the attendance is likely to be around 1,500 and won't involve even one set of fans, let alone both, intent on disorder, I'd find it laughable if they felt it posed them a problem.

Another option would be to reverse the fixtures between the two sides, so that Harrogate travel to Sutton on 28 September and we go up there on 30 November. But that would result in both clubs having three consecutive away games, so not ideal.

Hope that doesn't happen. End of November in North Yorkshire sounds ripe for a postponement to me, in addition to your point about consecutive away games.

I thought about a fixture reversal but couldn't really see it happening.

...End of November in North Yorkshire sounds ripe for a postponement to me... They do have a 3G pitch though Have to admit I'd completely forgotten about that! Good shout, in which case that diminishes the possibility of a postponement although the surrounding streets still need to be declared safe (even bigger clubs such as Middlesbrough have fallen victim to that one) and likewise the trains need to be running. Having said all that, if there's a few inches of snow like there was the other year when we were due to play at Halifax, all bets are off anyway!
