We've yet to win a home game this season and the persistent insistence in playing a lone striker upfront is unlikely to see this situation change in the foreseeable future. It makes us far too predictable and easy to defend against. That's no disrespect to Jarvis who worked tirelessly all game but he was far too isolated. I have few concerns about the individual quality of our players but this negative style of play at Gander Green Lane does us few favours. I really appreciated Easty's bursts through midfield today and Ajiboye showed some real class at times on the right flank but the sooner this lone striker tactic in home games gets knocked on the head the better.

It doesn't work,it infuriates the fans and is doing Matt no favours. The same for the opposition corners. No one left upfield to pick up on a clearance.
We need some different tactics at home or the fans will vote with their feet.

Who would you leave out (position not player) to fit in a second striker?

Who would you leave out (position not player) to fit in a second striker? You'd change the formation obviously.

Good question, Tony.
A number of options spring to mind, one of which being a 4-4-2 with a diamond midfield, with say Barden (DM), Randall (LM), Ajiboye/Bolly (RM), Beautyman/Easty (AM) and a 2 man front of either Dundo/Jarvis and Wright/Kearney.
I appreciate that doesn't leave much room for a quality central midfielder like Davis, so one potential alternative would be a 4-1-2-3 with Barden as the holding midfielder, fronted by a midfield pairing of Easty and Davis with Easty bursting forward as and when required to assist a 3 man attack of Beautyman/Easty, Dundo/Jarvis and Wright/Kearney.
Of course the difficulty with that option is it doesn't leave much room for quality wingers like Randall/Ajiboye/Bolly. To be honest I wouldn't mind us playing a 4-5-1 provided it's played with sufficient flexibility to transform into a 4-3-3 with the wingers forming part of a 3 man prong upfront, a bit like we played last season for a while before Wright's long-term injury, but that certainly didn't happen on Saturday.
