It is not the fault of the tunnel stewards, who are only carrying out the Football Association rules. The tunnel has to be a sterile area until ALL players have left the pitch -that is it END OF !! If you are that Desperate to get a pint then go out of the Turnstiles 10 mins from Time and walk round to the bar so as to not waste valuable drinking time!!!The tunnel Stewards are all volunteers and give their time willingly every home game. They get fed up arguing with the same inebriated twits every week who ask the same questions as to why the gates are closed. If you want to pick an argument do it with the senior Knights Stewards - those in the Orange vests who are paid to deal with confrontation Muppet, read the Original post properly. I've been going to GGL for over 25 years and am well aware I can't get past the tunnel entrance from a couple of minutes before ht/ft and well aware why this is. If I'd known the car park exit was ppintlessly closed I would obviously have gone around the other way.

While the guy appears to have misunderstood the original post, I am not sure abuse (even if mild as in this case), is warranted towards a volunteer. The club keeps asking for them and I doubt they will get many if they're going to get this sort of response.

After all, calling loyal supporters who choose to boost the club's income by purchasing drinks at the club's bars rather going to a local pub "inebriated twits" is somewhat less than respectful.

Sorry. Forgot the old adage "the customer is always right".
When the club runs out of volunteers let's hope some on here will put themselves forward.

Sounds like a miscommunication to me. Perhaps next time there can be a message relayed to the PA box that could be announced if there is a decision like this. I wasn't there so couldn't say what it was but from the outside either that didn't happen or it got missed by some. Lessons learned I reckon.

Surely that gate gas passed all H&S tests to be a designated exit/entry point. I don't think it's unreasonable to wonder why it's shut when the match ends and the decision taken is to hold everyone up in a small area , all pushing in the same direction, and after 10 mins to allow everyone to go through a small, internal tunnel. It's obviously not the poor guys implementing it that are at fault, but someone has made a bad call.

This is a well run club so I'm sure the situation will be resolved now it's been raised as an issue and here's hoping our invaluable volunteers won't be placed in an awkward situation like this again.

It now costs three quid to get a cramped seat in the stand with minimal legroom.Should you leave your seat at half time to go for a wee it is even money that somebody who hasn't paid a tanner will slip in and nick it.

Apropos H&S isn’t it one of Sutton United’s rules that exit from the car park can only happen after all spectators have left the ground, and how often does that happen?

There was no problem getting out through that exit at the final whistle this evening.

Apropos H&S isn’t it one of Sutton United’s rules that exit from the car park can only happen after all spectators have left the ground, and how often does that happen? Well It didn't happen tonight. I left by the stand side gate with many others as soon as the whistle went. On passing the corner of the MBA lounge we had to move aside to allow an electric vehicle (hence no noise ) to pass through. Incidentally I left by the same gate on Saturday. A young steward had, I believe been turning people away but when a supporter tried the gate it was not locked and we were allowed to use the exit as usual. I had seen others turn around in front of me but it seems persistence and common sense did prevail.
