A lot of National South sides in the hat for today’s draw. Locally Carshalton and Kingstonian made it through (beating Tooting and AFC Sudbury respectively) who could be possible opponents as are Aveley and Yate Town who are amongst the lowest-ranked sides left in the competition.
Here’s hoping for a kind draw!

Something I found a bit quirky from the weekends results was that Bognor, Brackley and Spennymoor all went exited the competition - clubs who have knocked Sutton out of the Trophy in 3 of the last 4 seasons (Boreham Wood - the other obviously join us in today’s draw).

Will be our third encounter with D&R in three months, and the second in three weeks. Have to hope for a turnaround in home form.

Rather this than risk going out to a team in the division below. Like Billericay or Havant for example! Every draw can be as dull as anything all the way up to the final for all I care!

There were a few eye-opening shocks over the weekend, not least Kingstonian beating Woking 3-1 this afternoon. Dorking Wanderers put Bromley to the sword, going through 3-0, and rather pleasingly, Bore ‘em Wood got dumped out 2-0 at Royston, who are two divisions below.
By all accounts there was a remarkable game across the borough where Carshalton found themselves 3-0 down to lower-league Aveley. Former U Harry Ottaway pulled one back. Then a worldie (to use the modern vernacular) from outside the box made it 3-2 before Carshalton converted from the spot to equalise in stoppage-time.
No joy for Dos in the Trophy again as Havant got done right at the death at Chelmsford.
Second round draw is at 1 p.m. tomorrow, live on Talksport2.

So another club that we've already met twice in the league this season. Not that I'd complain about another visit to Meadow Lane.
If we do get through tomorrow, that would be trips to Chesterfield, Nottingham and Stockport on consecutive Saturdays in January.
If we go out, the Dorking Wanderers v Stockport tie looks an attractive option for 11 Jan.

I haven't been to Meadow Lane since the late 90s but agree, it's a very decent stadium and Nottingham is a good city to have a few beers. Agree re Dorking v Stockport. I went to the pre-season game last year and it's a tidy setup. Much better than that old place of theirs in the middle of nowhere with less cover than your average bus stop!
