www.redpassion.co.uk/forums/The Wrexham Board have issued a statement to their fans apologising for their team's performance and position in the league. They have announced an injection of 20% on current player budget, to be spent from January 2020 only because they are an International Club!! I can only think 21 December is a good time to play them....or am I tempting fate?

Makes an interesting read but looks like they can bring in loan signings immediately.

I read it as they had increased the budget by 20% for this season and are looking for further additions as and when necessary with regard to the Transfer Window opening in January.

I said a month or two ago when there was a swell of "Matt Gray out" from posters on here (who aside from a couple adult enough to give credit where credit is due, have gone very quiet the last week or so ) that I thought we were in a better position that a team like Wrexham. They were a team who last season had their highest finish for 8 seasons, and also had their highest average crowd since they were in the football league (their crowds last season averaged over 5,000, more than they had when they were in League 1). They've increased their budget by 20%, and now have gone back to the manager who has yet to improve their fortunes, even though they have a squad size 10 or so bigger than we have. Whether or not their expectations are higher than ours, their immediate goal is the same. Stay at this level. For all the reasons I've stated above plus our current league position, we are in a better position than Wrexham at the moment.

I was one of the dissenters on here (not saying you are calling people out). Rather than post, I choose to speak to him Saturday and congratulate him on starting to turn the results around along with that my opinion of his ability and being the right person for the job. A long way to go yet, but it is looking better than it was 4 games ago. I didn’t see the two away wins or Bromley due to being away but the positivity from them meant Saturday was the first time I went to a game in a while not expecting a loss and being pleased with anything better than that. To me it all felt a lot more positive at the ground. Only league position counts so yes we are in a better position than Wrexham, as you say, but it looks like they may have the means to try and buy/pay themselves out of trouble. I guess we shall see, but I think they will turn it around.

I also expect Wrexham to climb away from the drop-zone, and likewise with Chesterfield (though they have a tough run of fixtures coming up). If only three go down next year (expected but not yet confirmed?) then that eases the pressure a little. Then again, Stockport, York and Torquay are all ex-League outfits who dropped into Step 2 in recent times, so there's no room for complacency at these clubs.
If we do stay in the lower reaches of the table, and the 'bigger' clubs move upwards, we're likely to be in a relegation battle with Ebbsfleet, Chorley, Aldershot and Maidenhead. (There's a possibility too that D&R - bottom of the form table, with six defeats in their last seven - will get sucked in.) But the last few games have provided genuine grounds for optimism in what's turning out to be an unusually tight and competitive division.

I can only think 21 December is a good time to play them....or am I tempting fate? Wrexham beat Eastleigh last night 2-0 at the Silverlake, getting their first away win of the season. I'd say you are tempting fate.
