As a footnote to this thread, I've been reading the programme for yesterday's match which I have to say is excellent.
There's a feature on the plans for Woking's new stadium development (which envisages the possibility of the club reaching the Championship 🙄).
Also included is a four-page article on the history of meetings between our two clubs. During the last century we tended to have the upper hand, even in the 1990s when Woking were mostly playing at the higher level (remember that 3-0 Trophy victory at GGL, then the 6-0 in the SSC). This century the advantage has swung Woking's way, culminating in their three wins over us in 2011/12 (two in Confererence South plus the SSC final) with an aggregate score of 12-2! Since we returned to the top level though, honours have been even, with home advantage counting - that is until yesterday! The next instalment is less than a week away.

I've seen around 3,000 Sutton games, but I'm not sure I can remember too many efforts from outside the box that were any better than Omar's first goal yesterday. There are a few I recall in particular for various reasons:- - Able's dipping, swerving 30-yarder at Harrow - Steve Cosham's right foot piledriver at Colston Avenue (as Steve Bangs encouraged his fellow defenders that "He's all left foot") - Macca (at Leytonstone ?) being thrown the ball by the right touchline and simply looking up and smashing it past the astonished keeper

I recall Paul McKinnon hitting a 30 yarder at Merthyr albeit against a stand in 'keeper.
More recently Dundo against Chelmsford finding the top corner with a thumping strike from distance.

plus a host of strikes by Graham Dennis that have faded into the mists of time.

I remember another of Macca’s, at Bishop’s Stortford in 1989 during a Clubcall Cup quarter-final when he belted one in from distance. Unfortunately we still lost 4-3.

Curly at Dagenham in the F.A. cup comes to mind. One of four we scored that day.

Just watched Omar's first goal at Woking; thought the goalkeeper should have held it.

Seen the fella a few times over the last couple of months, at Euston before we left for Barrow, up at Fylde and again last week when he was watching us thrash Wrexham. Such a decent bloke but yes, rather tricky to understand. Glad his spying missions didn’t come to much and hope for similar results next week.
