I hear that Tarpey doesn't play on 3G on doctor's advice because of the Achilles injury he got at Barnet a couple of years back which pretty much killed off his professional career. Doesn't mean the medical advice he got is right though! I suppose I can see that, then. Seems odd to saddle themselves with two, top pick, strikers who won't play on it, though. I expect Dowson's thinking is that "Hey I'd still take them for 43 out of 46 games". Woking have played twice on 3G this season. Lost them both, and Tarpey and his mate have the match off before the Easter weekend too it seems!

Good to hear Nik will be playing on the carpet until the end of the season linkGood news, but I assume that's it for the Jamie Butler experiment and dudzinski is our 2nd keeper? Shame as Butler is clearly a much liked member of the squad but his lack of height was ruthlessly exposed this season. Think he will be a very good keeper in the league below but I fear the national has become too physical a league for keepers of shorter stature

Here’s a an early new year present for all SU supporters.
Chesterfield 1 SU 4
And then we have one game a week all the way to Easter.
We have a good chance to stay unbeaten...

I really don't get the 'Two of our strikers can't play on plastic' that I've seen on the Woking forum. 'Can't' as in 'won't'? Or 'can't' as in 'not good enough to'? Surely if you sign for a club you play when and wherever the club needs you to play? Be it on plastic or a rain sodden rutted field. I hear that Tarpey doesn't play on 3G on doctor's advice because of the Achilles injury he got at Barnet a couple of years back which pretty much killed off his professional career. Doesn't mean the medical advice he got is right though! With the caveat that some scientific research is the patently obvious stated by somebody in a white coat. Researchers at my old Uni have found no difference in the 'hold' of a studded boot in 3G compared with a high quality grass pitch. So the damage caused to joints by a twisting moment or sideways impact is the same on either surface, and is related to the number of studs and their depth. However, the researchers added that the first experiments were always conducted with perfectly clean boots. Boots remain clean on 3G during a match, whereas on an average grass pitch boots collect wads of grass and mud which effectively reduces the depth of studs in the playing surface and their hold. Later experiments with 'dirty' boots showed a reduced hold as you would expect. Players on 3G who are concerned their boots don't twist as readily as on grass should wear 6-stud boots and perhaps reduce the depth of the heel studs to match the sole studs.

Doesn't seem to affect Tommy who was excellent again yesterday.

Plus we are purring at the moment - a change of manager is not going to stop this amber and chocolate charge!

Sol, listened to you on my drive back to Swindon after the thrashing of Woking. Loved the interaction with Robbie Savage over the wait for the VAR decision on Palace’s goal! I’m sure they (Robbie and Emma) pronounced your name differently every time you were introduced to give an update on the match! 😂😂😂 great reporting, although you would have loved commentating yesterday at GGL! Happy New Year to you. MOTD is the future!

Emma - she is nice too (my name I am used to it now - it makes me chuckle - I find it hard pronunciation with the world playing in the PL - prefer the good old James Milner’s, Sam Bryan’s and Connor Wickham’s)! Fingers crossed I get onto the BBC Radio commentary team that’s always been my goal. Thank you again and happy new year.

Or in Savage's case - enraging the listener! Next time you meet him Sol, ask Robbie which is nearer to Wrexham - Birmingham or Blackburn? That should light the blue touch paper.

I look at the BBC live text commentary and her along with, and others, are hilarious.

My reckoning Matt surely has to get National League manager of the month for December - the turnaround has been immense and worthy of an award to hang on his wall.

I think we are all pleased if you are pleased Os as there has been a lot of doubt leading up to December's games. Have just watched the highlights on YouTube some great goals, particularly liked David's goal.
