Tomorrow night sees a long-awaited return to Fetcham Grove - I don’t think we’ve played there since that memorable FA Cup replay during the early Dos years.
Fair few first teamers might get minutes tomorrow night Bolarinwa, Dundas, Milsom, Brown, Jarvis, Eastmond (his ban doesn’t cover the SSC) and a likely debut for Corby Rowe, also is Bradley Pearce back with us? Saw a tweet from him saying his loan at Walton Casuals had ended.
Should be looking to progress from this time where South Park await the winners in the next round.

Looking forward to this one, but the anticipated mixture of fringe first-teamers and academy players is unlikely to find the match an easy passage to the next round. Leatherhead, tenth in the Isthmian Prem, will pose more of a threat than Horley in the last round.
Crossley Lema played for them in Saturday's 0-0 home draw with Merstham.
We scored 11 goals in the three games after Christmas but have failed to find the net in the subsequent three. At the very least we'd want to end that mini-drought tomorrow evening.
My recommended pub is the Running Horse (38 Bridge St KT22 8BZ), a Grade II* listed Tudor building overlooking the River Mole, and less than half a mile from Fetcham Grove. Beers are from Kentish brewer Shepherd Neame and meals are served from 6pm.

Absolutely Billy! Anyone fancy having a go at naming the side we put out that night - it includes two players from the current squad which is an easy start.

One absentee who I thought might have got some minutes tonight is Aaron Jarvis who’s subsequently gone on loan to Hemel Hempstead - needs some minutes admittedly.

Lost 3-0. Leatherhead weren't great but had a bit too much for a Sutton team that included six academy players in the starting XI. When Craig Eastmond limped off just before half-time the game was pretty much up.
The first two goals were down to errors by Sutton players. The late third was a decent strike by their guy.
So long as we continue to field sides like this in the SSC then we aren't going to win the competition again. Whether that's important is a matter of debate.

For me we should keep playing the academy because it’s good for them too have a competitive game in a cup competition that dose not really matter..

I didn’t go last night but that’s a pretty disappointing result - though I understand Leatherhead fielded a full-strength team.
Did any of the academy prospects show any quality? A friend of mines brother made his debut at left-back Sam Tutt - think he’s captain of the under 18’s side.

The keeper had an absolute shocker of a first half and to think he was on the bench at Chesterfield.

To me, winning the SSC has been irrelevant for a number of years. The fact that it's not even given first team status by the FA tells you more than anything about how important they place on county cups.
The worrying thing for me is the fact that a team of mostly academy players were outplayed by a mid table isthmian league side who are so injury hit, they had to name their manager and assistant manager on the subs bench. Even with 4 first team players last night, the gulf between the teams was huge and the scoreline didn't flatter them one iota.
Without being too derogatory, our keeper last night made Chuck Martini look world class.

I wasn't there either but a shame we don't take this a bit more seriously. Management obviously don't realise what silverware means to the supporters.

I wasn't there either but a shame we don't take this a bit more seriously. Management obviously don't realise what silverware means to the supporters. You may remember that at Dos' first meet the manager, he said that he didn't want to play the first team in the SSC and asked how we felt about it. The great majority of those present accepted this approach, if it was the cost of gaining promotion. Now it may be the cost of retaining our National League status. Fortunately Craig Eastmond still has a couple of games left on his suspension so his injury may not have too bad an effect, but wouldn't we have been annoyed if an important first team player had been forced to miss league games due to an injury picked up in a comparatively meaningless SSC game? I've adjusted to the likelihood that we will never win the SSC again. The only shame is that with Woking drawing Dorking Wanderers in the next round, there was only going to be one other strong team left in the competition.

It is unreasonable to suggest that any of the academy players are ready to step up to first team football but you could also argue that at least one of our first team squad did not stand out as superior to to our opponents. Not being around other quality players is a factor but not the total reason. You could also argue that Crossley Lemar made a good choice in leaving the academy to get first team football at a higher level. On the performance last night if you think being in the Acadamy side will lead to progression into the first team you are mistaken.
