I think OS is alluding to the concerns over the virus that has seen Italy cancel football matches and rumours of the UK government limiting sporting crowds to 500, which would of course mean clubs not being able to generate gate income.
On a more positive note, was yesterday our best performance of the season ? Torquay had been on a good run but it was a well-deserved win, so much pace going forward.

Yes DF i was, not sure what some of the others ere thinking, maybe that Bruce had put all the clubs money on a 3 legged horse at Kempton Park or something ?? I think all major gatherings should have already been put on hold for say 14 days, as this thing is only going to get bigger, and it may have financial impacts if we end up going into some form of lock down which looks almost inevitable to me. Anyone who has had double pneumonia and been on a life support machine for 10 days will not necessarily take the last comment on the previous page particularly well. Finally, yesterdays performance was the most complete of the season taking the 90mins as whole, should have scored a couple more though.

So Boreham Wood will be fine then...

Probably because original posting was so ambiguous there was an implication that it was just our club that financial struggles with no context. We're in the realms of the unknown and we don't know what action, if any, will need to take place before the end of the season in 7 weeks time. Mind you, with the local idiots panic buying toilet rolls, it's easy to see how the local community are being whipped up into hysteria by the media.

2 hours ago - Sporting events in Britain are unlikely to be affected by coronavirus in the immediate future, says Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden. Governing bodies and broadcasters will meet with government officials later on Monday to discuss the staging of events behind closed doors if the outbreak worsens and mass gatherings are banned. Dowden told BBC Radio 5 Live: "At this stage we're not in the territory of cancelling or postponing events."

Hopefully we will finish the season without any restrictions but our Wembley final could be problematic !

I think we will be, in truth this thing is running so fast I think disruption is inevitable - With a death at St Helier tonight its going to get more difficult to justify large events going ahead?

I respectfully suggest that if we're going to discuss the possible impact of the coronavirus outbreak on Sutton's fixtures then the subject should have its own thread.

That's not a decision you, I or the club are in a position to make. As the Aleman said, let's keep this thread to the match.

It's not that I don't take it seriously. But I don't need to be reminded about it every tenth minute of every single day, every place I look. As is the case at the moment. Seperate thread, fine. Otherwise, let's talk football. Please.

I expect us to carry on our normal lives. We're British, not Italian. We don't do crying and wailing and gnashing of teeth, we tut, complain about the queue in which we're currently standing and proceed ahead. Problem these days is any news, positive or negative, is embraced by the media and exaggerated beyond all proportion.

This will probably be my last post for a while like others before I have become a bit disillusioned with some of the attitudes shown towards others, I will not be the 1st. However I was asked to explain my original post only giving a very brief synopsis, which made some believe the club was bankrupt. TBH it it was and I knew it I certainly would not post it here. In light of the above comment, I will leave it here: The news coming out of Italy is that the death rate has increased significantly as there are not enough ventilators so people are being left to suffocate. There is also talk of this virus mutating in situ, 40% of those hospitalized are under the age of 64. Italians are urging the rest of us to take this seriously...

Might this be a reflection of the Italian health service? Although the fourth or fifth largest economy in Europe, they're effectively a Banana Republic so I won't be taking any advice from them as to what I should take seriously. Flu kills 60,000 per year, this may well do similar but that doesn't make it a pandemic. If they want to stay indoors and tremble, that's up to them.
