Smacks of desperation to me. The delay in the new season's start is directly attributable to covid-19, so in effect, the Silkmen's sole excuse for dodging relegation is down to the virus. In any event, I fail to see how the National League season starting four weeks after the EFL's falls foul of the "within a reasonable period of time" criterion with regard to all the prevailing circumstances i.e. a global pandemic that has killed hundreds of thousands worldwide. A pretty low move from the Macc Lads, all things considered.

Macclesfield have lost their appeal and have been relegated.

Common sense prevails for a change.

Given that Macclesfield were having problems paying players the season that they won promotion to the Football League and that those problems have persisted, there must be doubt about them meeting the criteria for acceptance to the National League Premier.

I believe the club is up for sale.

Expect the regular "Macclesfield not paying their players in January" headline to be accelerated forward. Forget Dover, this is the side I think that are the most likely to go pop first.

Assuming that a number of clubs, in NL, NLS ans NLN, will be going into this season in a state of financial instability what happens if some of them do collapse during the course of the season?
Presumably the remaining clubs carry on in their leagues with probable expunged points regarding fixtures played against the ex-clubs?
I can see that working if each league only lost a couple of clubs. But how does it go if there are multiple loses? The same way? God forbid this happens, of course, but it is a real possibility.
