Right from the very start of lockdown, we had fans emailing in offering to run some sort of fund-raising scheme. Although very grateful for the offers, we politely asked them not to do anything as there was so much uncertainty around the length of the suspension of football and what any return to action might look like. We had no idea what magnitude any shortfall might be. We still do not have full certainty but many of the answers to the questions are now clearer and so we feel it is the right time to launch our own scheme, United We Stand. We have made enormous efforts in the last six months to keep outgoings to an absolute minimum and take advantage of whatever support schemes are available and to develop new income streams. But, to be able to move forward we do need help please. Full details are on the club's website. www.suttonunited.net/united-we-stand-2020/

Excellent initiative, I'm in.
Out of interest, are shares still available for purchase, and if so, are you able to confirm how many are available?

They are, but sales are currently on hold, as we are exploring various options at the moment.

Just to say that the total tracker on our website can't keep up ! Someone in the IT team is trying to feed it an extra Wheatabix.

Stupid question but are the club's bank account details on the standing order form definitely correct? The account number is 7 digits long...my internet banking site says it has to be 8 and won't process it (I ended up doing it through the website instead).

We will get it fixed. Thank you for pointing this out!

I've donated. So far nearly £15k from 141 supporters. Hopefully, these figures will be considerably boosted over the coming days because another £185k is a very long way to go.

I don't think the shortfall is as much as £185,000. The club has lost around £200,000 in matchday and venue hire income since March but will have saved roughly half of that amount by placing playing and other staff on furlough. And those supporters who've set up regular payments will, over time, be adding to the £15,000 (assuming that's the total actually received to date). Of course though there's still a long way to go.

Hi all The United We Stand 2020 scheme is a “call to arms” to everyone associated with SUFC to help the club recover from the income hole caused by Covid-19. The initial response has been simply magnificent and yet more evidence of the community togetherness pervading this special Football Club. Over £15,000 has been donated so far by 150 supporters. Quite humbling. Thank you very much to everyone who has contributed so far. That counter on the website is quite hypnotic:) Quite simply, the more we can raise, the better we can bounce back. If we can turn 150 supporters donating into 500, whatever each person can afford to contribute, it, alongside other measures we have put in place, will go a long way to help us bridge the gap caused by Lockdown. There’s still a way to go but what a fabulous start. Please spread the word and wear the United We Stand 2020 badge of honour with considerable pride. Every single contribution will play an important part as we steer through these challenging times together. AB

It's great to see so many fans supporting this. Up to £25,690 as i write this. Can we get past £30k by the end of the weekend?

Good to see the posters in the town, this one near Sutton station. BTW the poster was clear, just a poorly taken photo!
