So today we officially say goodbye to Macclesfield Town which is a very sad occasion for any football club but is a very illuminating example of what can happen to any club that does not keep its finances in check, whether it be a wealthy owner who doesn’t appreciate the costs involved or maybe paying over the odds for certain players.
All I can say is how great does that make Sutton United who whilst operating on limited funds can produce such high results in both results and players with great capabilities who deliver. Long may it continue and let’s hope we can soon be inside GGL to cheer our team on and help to contribute more to their financial well-being.

And as an aside to the above, Salford have sacked their manager, not performing as expected? It seems that a Man U stakeholder is now the interim manager so maybe money can’t buy everything 🤷🏼♂️

It seems that a Man U stakeholder is now the interim manager so maybe money can’t buy everything 🤷🏼♂️ Given that Salford are unbeaten in their opening five games, have a plus five goal difference and are fifth in the League Two table, I suspect there's more to it than "not performing as expected". Can't say I'm that surprised though, as they've already demonstrated how utterly ruthless they are when they replaced their entire management team on attaining promotion to the National League. Unprecedented success is clearly not enough for a side whose aim seems to be top flight football or bust.

Delving into the report it seems that the manager was at odds with the hierarchy as they didn’t agree with the way he wanted the team to play in spite of as you say unbeaten in 5 games, maybe they wanted Salford to win all 5?

Thread about Macclesfield but most of the posts are about bloody Salford 🥴 The underlying thread is about money and how it works in both directions and what the end result can be i.e. disaster.

Have to say it's very surreal looking at the National League table on the BBC's website at the moment and seeing Aldershot Town below a team that doesn't exist any more. Effectively, the BBC are telling Shots fans that their side is worse than nothing, which is a tad harsh... www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/national-league/table

I mean, Shots fans are generally depressed enough already...
