At one point a few weeks ago, Eastleigh could overtake us with games in hand. We're now on the same number of games and they are 7 points behind, due to failing to win any of their last 6 games, scoring only 2 goals in that time. Their last win in the league was on 1st December. This is the start of potentially an intensive run of matches (if the league carries on) and of course we face our toughest game of the season on Tuesday at Torquay. Maybe that fact will influence our starting XI or subs during the course of the game. Eastleigh of course played on Tuesday, where they lost at home to Kings Lynn.

Now back to football. Eastleigh going through a rough patch but our games against them have always been interesting if not predictable.

Nice to get another 3 points. Certainly not our finest opening half hour. When you get a sending off and the free kick goes in to put you behind it’s a long way back. 3 great goals. A luxury to be able to rest some legs for once with the subs, will probably feel like we left a couple out there 2nd half. Players and management continue to do an outstanding job. Big game Tuesday evening all things being well in terms of the season proceeding!!

Three goal-of-the season contenders. Craig Eastmond's was the most spectacular, but he did have some help from the visiting keeper, and David Ajiboye's 'Maradona-esque' solo effort was probably the pick of the bunch. Matches against Eastleigh are always testing, and for the first 35 minutes, with the ball spending a lot of time in the air, they looked the more likely to break the deadlock. The red card for Cav Miley, with Rob Milsom then scoring from the free kick, was the game's pivotal point, and from then on it was mostly Sutton. Some of the Eastleigh players did seem to complain about the sending-off, but from the replay it did look as if Miley went in on Eastmond with his studs up. The Spitfires almost got a late consolation goal with their own long-range effort, but Dean Bouzanis adjusted his position just in time. There was a report of a very late Hartlepool equaliser at Weymouth, but it turns out to have been fake news. Pools lost 1-0 which puts us back in 2nd place.  Three tough away games coming up. |

Good win but i wouldn't say a particularly good performance. Will Dean stop causing me near heart attacks in the last 5 minutes of matches !

Another great performance. Controlled and assured with 3 fantastic finishes.
We really are being spoilt.
Will be a traversty if the season is ended prematurely as I honestly think we have a great chance of some real success either in the league or trophy.
