Such is the oddness of this season, this is our first away league same since 1st December.
In terms of form, oddly enough we go into this game in better form than Torquay - they won 2 in the last 6 and have only played a top half side in one of those games (the 0-0 on Sat against Notts). Aside from the thumping of Yeovil and the 4-3 win against Weymouth, they've lost at home to Dagenham, lost again to then 2nd bottom Yeovil and drew 0-0 against Kings Lynn. Although they are streaks ahead, this could well be the right to play them as they're not looking as untouchable as they were earlier in the season. We've got a good record at Plainmoor, I think having not lost there since 1989 (and not lost there in the league). Unfortunately it's a Tuesday night and all 3 of our league defeats this season have happened midweek.
The crux here is that if we come back with 3 points, we can catch them if we win our games in hand (mathematically we can now but we'd have to win all those three games by 3 goals on average to do that).
Elsewhere Hartlepool don't have a game, and Stockport travel to Kings Lynn, so if they win and we lose we will drop to 3rd again.
Obviously its 1st v 2nd, but it's also 23rd v 22nd tomorrow night - Dover host Barnet. Having top 2 and bottom two play each other on the same day can't happen very often!

Always a great day or evening out at Torquay. Going to miss it this year but we are in good form and have nothing to fear.
Lets hope for a good match and come away with 3 valuable points.

I think it was in about 1993 we played Torquay at Plainmoor in the 2nd Rd of The FA Cup. We won 1-0 with a 2nd half winner from a very accomplished midfielder (David Jones was it?) gaining a bit of revenge for the 1989 4-0 drubbing. If my memory serves that led onto a 3rd round encounter with Notts Co at Meadow Lane where we recovered from a 2 goal deficit, with 10 men, to draw level in the 2nd half, only to see a replay snatched away in the closing stages after they grabbed a hotly disputed winner from a corner.
In those days playing such teams was huge for little ol' Sutton United. Now we play them as equals!!

I did enquire about travelling but not allowed 🚫 (was hoping to do MIXLR @the ground).

Stockport's game this evening has just been postponed, so I think that means we stay 2nd no matter what (because you couldn't really expect Altrincham to make up a goal difference deficit of 12 in one evening).
