Easty's 5th yellow, the only downside to a decent point against a side that has been pretty much top all season on their own patch following a long midweek coach journey. Will take that even if they did go down to ten with 30 minutes left.
They struggled to cope with David A at times and picked up a couple of yellows for fouls on him. A hard working performance from the lads and for once, well refereed too (although would love to see that tackle on David in the second half to see where it actually was (i or out?).
Their commentary was good, although not sure why the summariser thought that first yellow to Moxey wasn't one?
What it all means though is down to the vote on Friday and if the DCMS doesn't change its stance on funding then surely there can be only one outcome.

TBH If you were Barnet or Dover would you want to take a loan to only end up relegated and in debt? There isn't really much logic in the loan route IMO.

A point away midweek at the runaway leaders without conceding. I think that's a pretty decent point. Even though Torquay were probably not at their best last night, I think you can easily see why they are top of the league - strong, well organised and actually pretty confident. After the first 15 mins I thought it was going to be a spectacular game, but it quickly faded into two teams cancelling each other out.
As for the remainder of the season, there seems to be some better news coming from various sources this morning (Namely Dan Roan and Ollie Bayliss) who are suggesting that a £14million package is being proposed, with possibly up to £10million of that being grants rather than loans. Details are obviously sketchy but there could be some light ahead.

Also the league has said that North and South must restart on 6 Feb. Any Smith at Concord is not happy. The league need to sort this quickly otherwise we could see steps 3-6 restarting and Steps 1-2 declaring the season null and void. It’s a mess!

Does not paint a pretty picture but I expect they'll find a way. Interesting reading for the first time about the proposed model to distribute funds according to average gate. Sutton would have done better than many with that method. As we all know, Sutton is run extremely well but the bell tolls for many clubs that have overstretched themselves or even been a little unlucky or niave. Like my industry, hospitality, the true domino effect is waiting in the wings. It could be a bloodbath in the lower leagues without acceptable government help.

But unfortunately, if you read the whole article, this funding is for clubs "below" National League, National League North & National League South, these Leagues don't get anything " at the moment" Hot off the press is this article on the BBC Website, A decision about the 2020/21 Season is still to be decided !! www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55818377

Before we go off at too much of a tangent from the Torquay game...it would make sense to continue discussion of the very important funding issue in the thread entitled 'DCMS funding'.

I also thought the commentary was very balanced and professional. Out of interest Dave Thomas has recently left the Torquay Herald after almost five decades to join Torbay Weekly. He is an avid Gulls fan.

Neil Hope you’re well.
That must be a huge transfer scandal down on the riviera.
Dave T is a top chap I don’t think he would have left because his agent tweeted about his unhappiness at The Herald.
I wonder how much the transfer fee was.....
(Side note - I worked alongside Dave in the early 2000’s)
