After a vote last night the dons trust afcwimbledon will allow sutton to ground share for the beginning of next season if sutton are promoted. There is also a possibility that the move could be made permanent with gander green lane left for training and other teams able to use the 3g pitch giving sutton much needed revenue.

Hmmm....can defo see the logic in the groundshare whilst we get GGL ready but cannot personally see it becoming a permanent deal. I may be wrong and I for one want us to keep the 3G pitch but permanent I doubt it...GGL is our home

That's the thing about a good April fools joke. It has to be believable.

I have to say I was fooled for a while then remembered you can’t permanently ground share.

To be honest I am a gullible fool most of the time anyway and if the permanent part of the joke wasn't added I probably would have fell for it!

How does that make it untrue? 5 years isn't permanent. There were always closed-ended agreements on those ground shares, a limited number of seasons. Wimbledon played at Selhurst Park for something like 12 years; nobody ever pretended that was permanent.

Coventry were in the 2nd year at St Andrews. Between 2014 and 2019 they were back at the Ricoh Stadium which is where they’ll be next season. The EFL allowed it because Coventry were going to be homeless.
The EFL allowed Wimbledon and Harrogate to groundshare at the start of this season as they were temporary arrangements whilst those 2 clubs were finishing up work on their own stadiums. So temporary groundshares or groundshares if a club are homeless are OK, but not if a club is looking to groundshare long term to get promoted.

IF we have to groundshate just for pre season friendlies or the first couple of league games next season the obvious choice is to pay little rent to Leatherhead, this is ground that’s been touted in the past might be complicated with Epsom playing there & someone remind me where Kingstonian now play?

If you've ever been to Leatherhead you'd have realised what a non starter that idea is.
