Realised in my previous reply that I mentioned that Chelmsford was my closest club, but hadn't mentioned, that I grew up in North Cheam, so had a mere 15 minute walk to Gander Green Lane when growing up, hence why I still drive round.
Whilst living in North Cheam, used to make occasional visits to Chelsea, Fulham and Crystal Palace in the late 60's / early 70's.

As a kid I lived in Wallington. Carshalton was probably closest but it was an easy bus ride to Sutton, so that was my choice. Had a short spell in Crawley so used to walk to Town Mead, then many years in Purley, when Leafe became my closest, a 10 minute drive up the A22. Recently moved to Redhill with the Lobsters a 5 minute walk from my house. Sutton has always been my first team, even as a Palace season ticket holder for nine years! When I first watched them in ‘67 they were reigning champions and hopefully when I see my 1,678th Sutton game on Sunday, they’ll be champions again!
