Just 3 days ago we had an email from a mother wanting to put her son in an academy near to her west midlands home. Lots of people have no idea where Sutton is ! We need a sitcom or soap on TV based in Sutton. Thanks to Eastenders, Minder, Only Fools & Horses, Till Death do Us Part, Steptoe & Son - people outside London know where The Isle of Dogs, Shepherds Bush, Peckham, West Ham, and Millwall are. Sadly Hancock's Half Hour was mainly a radio show because 23 Railway Cuttings, East Cheam (aka West Sutton) just has to be almost next door to GGL. It's already happened. The sitcom PhoneShop (2009-2013) was set in a mobile phone shop on Sutton High Street. It was also filmed on location.

And I'm pretty sure that Terry and June (1979-1987) was also filmed in location in Sutton...

It was technically set in Surbiton wasnt it? However alot of exterior filming was done on The Avenue in Cheam and some sequences were shot in Cheam Village itself

I seem to recall a scene when Terry was filmed leaving a pub. That was the Lord Nelson on London Road just down the hill from the GGL junction.

I believe that internal shots of “PhotoShop” were taken in the old Sussex Stationers white fronted bookshop at 100-102 Sutton High Street after it closed.

One of the more famous title sequences saw Terry come out of East Croydon station and the two of them missing each other in the Whitgift Centre.

You're right - it was actually "The Good Life" that was set in Surbiton. (Clearly when we're not discussing all things "Goodliffe", we move onto "The Good Life"!! Aaarrgghhh!)

They did actually move from 2 different shops in the High Street. Series 1 and 3 were in the Old Sussex Stationers, but season 2 did move to where Garfunkels was (which I think now is where BetFred is now). Other locations clearly seen in the series includes most of the high street, Peckish sandwich bar, Throwley Way car park, Alleykatz night club, the outside of legends, outside All Bar One, Poppins restuarant (more than once) and probably closest to the ground, Chaucer Gardens.

I don't expect many people buy the Daily Mail but they have a page where people write questions and later they print some responses. Somebody asked about which Counties had the most and least league teams. Some uninitiated person said the there were 13 London Borough teams in the league and omitted us. Either he was ignorant of our location or wasn't up to date with his knowledge although he pointed out there were no league teams in Surrey. I wrote to point out this error. I'll let you know if it gets printed. Rob Chandler got published as pointing out the error in yesterday's paper.

Well that's where you're wrong too. Biggest selling paper in England.
Not sure that answer was correct either. Sutton is a London Borough. Not sure it can be in two locations at once.
However, because of the club's affiliation to the Surrey FA and not London, for footballing reasons SUFC could be classed as the only Surrey based club in the EFL.

I buy the Daily Mail because occasional historical pieces, Amanda Platell’s page plus the puzzle page. The sport pages are crap as they only talk about Premier teams all the time.
