This is it then! Possibly our final game as a Non league club .123 years coming but don't forget that most other teams in the League were Non league at one time. Hopefully Barnet will give us a guard of honour and i wonder if we will play any fringe players for this one. Its a pity that we can't be there in person but i will be watching Barnet's streaming of the game .

I reckon that you should be knighted Del. You started the Sutton v Hartlepool thread and look what happened after that!

The jobs done, play a few fringe players but let's put out a team to win the game. It would be nice to leave this league on a high. I am sure Matt and the boys will be thinking the same thing.

As Del said, our last non league game after 123 years. Even typing that feels odd!
Barnet will obviously be no pushovers. Even after the torrid season they've had, with 4 managers and woeful form, on the last day they even have a shout of not being bottom (a position, whilst ignoring Dover, they've occupied for nearly 30 games! A win for them against us, coupled with a defeat for Kings Lynn will push them up to 2nd from bottom.
For us it's going to be a case of how far we have won the league by, and as Barnet did us a favour last weekend, I really wouldn't begrudge them a result. I can remember a couple of times after winning the league (notably against Basingstoke in 99 and Billericay in 2016) where we lost on the last day of the season. Maybe it happens only when we play against teams starting with B?
Of course elsewhere it is all about those last 2 play off places and who finishes 3rd or 4th. BT Sport have gone for the Dagenham v Wrexham game, which surprises me a little. I would have thought Bromley v Notts would be a more natural choice with 2 sides right in the mix. Simply put, the final 2 teams will be Wrexham and Chesterfield, if the both win regardless of what else happens.
As for 3rd/4th - "Better at home than away" Hartlepool are at home and "Better away than at home" Stockport are away. You'd expect both of them to win their games, so it could be as is.
It's very possible that a side will get 69 points and miss out on a play off spot, and we could draw, meaning we win the league with 85 points. Both of those many people on the forum were saying were the numbers needed for those positions a number of months ago!

MIXLR tomorrow with yours truly and YOUNG TOM (as I have named him).
I am wearing my SU jumper tomorrow (it’s a chocolate 🍫 colour with our badge £11 from the club shop) - I will probably overheat but who cares.
If you hear me shout via MIXLR a few times forgive me. ‘Matt - your immortal now’
Prediction in the morning (watch out it’s going to be a cracker).
👋🎈⚽️

Billericay was 2011! In 2016 we didn't lose the final game because our opponents began with an O, not B

Gotta admit, I do feel glad that we did the job at the Hartlepool game.
I know it's a bit weak of me but I never quite fancied this Barnet match as a must win, ever since they decided to play better. A nothihg-to-lose team who've decided that they have a bit about them, after all, are a curve ball.

Here we go for the final time in a season no one will ever forget for so many beautiful moments.
So for the final time:
================
Barnet 2 SU 7
👋🎈⚽️
(Predictions will be back Saturday 07 August 2021 - LG2)
Just don’t expect any insanity from me next season - I don’t believe we will draw or lose one game in the 5 competitions we enter.

0-2: our eighth league defeat of the season, but I don't suppose any of us cares very much. Ironically the three points haven't done Barnet much good as King's Lynn's stoppage time equaliser v Aldershot means that the Bees still finish bottom of the table. We finish on 84 points, four ahead of Torquay.
At least some of our 'fringe' players got a run-out - and a guard of honour from the home side.
The closest we came to scoring was when Adam Lovatt's volley struck the crossbar.

I didn't really care too much although pleased I watched it on the Bees Livestream. A rather uneventful 1st half and Barnet stepped it up in the 2nd half. Excellent commentary team. I wss hoping Dundo might get a consolation goal !

I guess that it will seem daft to most people - but I find myself feeling really disappointed that we lost today. In as much as last weekend's game was 'historic' - so was today's game - potentially our last game as a non-league club after 123 years. I do understand the thinking behind giving the fringe players a game - but I would have hoped that we might have had some of our 1st X1 on the bench so that we could change things if needed. I imagine that I'll probably be crucified for making this post -but as much as I'm as excited as anyone else about the new era ahead of us, I'm also very proud of what Sutton has achieved over such a long period of time as a non-league club - and it would have been nice if our final act could have ended a little better. I'm sure I'll feel better tomorrow.

Well, it's a defeat but to be honest, it isn't a defeat that irks. What a season, what a ride and what an amazing achievement. Good luck to Barnet, they made the final day of the season a lot more bearable! A shame in a way to see them where they are now.
Nice gesture too with the guard of honour.
