.. after all we still have a game to,play so in my mum’s immortal words ‘you haven’t worn the old one out yet’. However with representatives from the likes of Adidas, Nike and Puma all lining up outside our commercial sponsorship office we certainly need to be thinking about kit designs for next season?
Unquestionably my favourite was our centenary kit with chocolate and amber quarters and would love us to smash down the doors of the EFL wearing something similar. The current one doesn’t have enough chocolate and you can never get enough chocolate....

For the first few seasons I watched Sutton the only chocolate was the numbers on the plain yellow shirts, white shorts and yellow socks. Maybe good to go back to that.

The amber with chocolate numbers white shorts combination was prevalent throughout the 1960s so anyone who started to watch during that decade would have had a similar experience.
1974/5 we went to chocolate shorts. A more all amber strip was in late 70s and onwards

Me too! Started watching in the mid-1960s. The closest Subbuteo team I could find was Blackpool. I could never understand why the programme always had us playing in amber and chocolate, although there was no chocolate to be seen. I assume that was from a prvious era. When did we change to the amber shirts, white shorts combo?

Did we nick the embroidered SUFC from Leeds United or did they nick it from us??? Why would Leeds have SUFC embroidered? Scunthorpe or Southend possibly.

Sorry, yes, it was the 'embroidery' part I was referring to. Leeds United of course had LUFC embroidered. I think I may have answered my own question now. From match photo's it's clear we had the embroidered style in 1970 whereas Leeds didn't until at least 1971. I wonder if it was a stock choice or a form of flattery?

Of course everyone will think we ought to go back to whatever their personal favourite Sutton kit of all time was. I'm more inclined to say since we're entering brand new territory as a club maybe we should go with a brand new kit design to match.
I did rather like these

Sutton did wear a chocolate away kit during the 70s. It was Coventry's away kit.
Absolutely awful under the floodlights of the day.
